Jacob Black

As the days were passing by, my relationship with Renesmee had changed. From holding hands and pecks on the lips, we had moved forward to longer and more passionate kisses. At first, it annoyed everyone around us, but they quickly got used to it.

Christmas was approaching and I knew I had not only to get Ness a great present but as well to make Christmas an even more special occasion for us. Our first one. So, I decided to get a second, better-paid job. The sooner, the better.

After looking at so many advertisements, after calling what seemed to be thousands of people and writing countless formal letters, I had finally been accepted for a job interview. What a stroke of luck! And the best part was that I had applied for a position in an office in Port Angeles.

For the interview, I was a little nervous. I knew I wouldn't be the only one attending, but I really wanted to leave a good first impression. I desperately needed that job.

On the big day, all the pack came home just to wish me good luck.

"Chillax, guys!" , I told them. "I'm just going to a job interview!"

Why were they overreacting like that?

They even threw water on which I had to walk. But I couldn't take the happiness from them. I could still hear them cheering, while I was driving farther and farther. I had even turned off the radio. I wanted to be as concentrated as possible.

Several hours and a fresh out of the oven muffin, I was waiting at the waiting room at a luxurious building, ready for the interview. A lady with glasses came out of the room.

"Jacob Black?", she called.

Uh oh. It was my turn. I stood up from the chair I was sitting on and followed her into the room.

She seemed like a nice woman. She introduced herself as Mrs Jennings and motioned me to sit down. So did I.

She began asking questions such as full name, age, current occupation. I answered all of them, confidently, just like I had been taught to.

Mrs Jennings was just about to ask me another question when the worst thing ever happened. My eyes that I had kept on her nose, finally locked in hers for a brief moment. But I couldn't take them off hers. In an instant, the future flashed in front of my eyes. And guess what?

Renesmee wasn't part of it. Instead, it was the woman in front of me. My 40-year-old possible future boss.

I had just imprinted on Mrs Jennings.

We stared at each other for what seemed years until she finally spoke up:

"Did you feel what I just felt?"

"Huh?" , I pretended nothing had happened. I could not reveal my secret.

She looked at me and thanked me for attending the interview before adding that she was going to contact me as soon as possible. I gulped before exiting, shambling my feet to the car, dreading to go back home. How was I going to serve the news to everyone?

What if I got the job? Then I would have to be stuck with Mrs Jennings, who probably had her own family. I couldn't believe it. For the first time in my life, I prayed that something good, something that would possibly benefit me in the future, would not happen. I couldn't believe it.

It took me hours to reach home, stopping every so often to shed a tear or two. And how could I not? If you were in the same situation, what would you do? I bet you would be upset too, don't you dare lie. Lying is never cool.

"Dude! What happened!" , Seth screamed in my ear, as soon as I arrived back home.

What could I say? I had to tell him everything. Possibly he knew how to help me.

My friends assured me that they were going to help me and to stick with me through thick and thin, even if Renesmee didn't want to look at me anymore.

Later in the evening, my angel and I were at our meadow. I had decided to tell her there, hoping that she would be less mad if we were at our special place. The day was one of the nicest in Forks. The shining sun and the singing birds were something rare in this small rainy town.

As soon as I noticed that my angel didn't seem angry at all, I decided it was time for me to confess:

"Please, don't get mad at me," I begged.

She chuckled nervously. "Why would I be mad at you?"

I looked down at the grass from shame. There it was. The awful feeling in my stomach. The feeling of sickness. How was I going to tell her? What if she never wanted to speak to me again?

"Jake?"

I bet she was raising her eyebrow. I could feel the nerves in her voice.

"You know about imprinting, don't you?", I spoke, after gathering enough courage.

She laughed and I remembered. We had talked about imprinting on the bonfire night. Sam Uley had told us the tales of how imprinting worked. She perfectly knew about it.

"I imprinted," I blurted. Dumbass!

I heard her let out a soft gasp. I imagined she was at a loss for words. She was stunned, wasn't she? I bet she was. And now would come the screaming and the crying. How could I blame her? I would be too if I were in her shoes.

You ruined everything! You and your damn wolf charm!

After what seemed an eternity, her fingers interlaced with mine and I looked up to see her smiling. How could she be so calm at this moment?

"Together we can find a solution," she spoke.

Was she right or wrong? Could we truly overcome this obstacle?

Renesmee leaned in and kissed me as if she wanted to assure me that whatever happened, we would stay together. And that was the moment when I realized that I wanted to spend the rest of my existence with that girl.
