CHAPTER 2
The sound of my alarm woke me up. Around 6 in Seoul Korea, everywhere does be freezing. Getting out of my small bed, I stretched and put on my bunny slippers. My room was cramped with books and a lot of school work papers. My dad and couldn’t afford much so we live in a two bedroom house. But I never complain.
Jumping into the shower I took a quick bath and put my black and grey plaid skirt that cut right four inches above the knee, my white shirt with my grey blazer. I put my long black hair that I inherited from my mother, into a ponytail and I put on my glasses. I hurried downstairs and made some breakfast for when dad got up. Fifteen minutes later I turned off the stove, grabbed my black knapsack and ran out the door.
The cold morning air nipped at me as I made my way toward WHS. I walked briskly to school and avoided all contact with anyone. WHS was a rich school and I am just here on scholarship. Walking with my head slightly down, I entered the school gates only to run into someone. “Oh, mianhe!” I said to the person in front of me and quickly tried to get away.
A firm grip locked the back of my arm pulling me back. I look up to see Hyun-Shik, also known as the school’s ‘bad boy’. My heart practically stopped in my chest. The only reasons that the ‘populars’ stopped me was to tease and make fun. I wasn’t in the mood today.
“Min Jee, why are you babo? Look where you’re walking! Your motherless scholarship girl,” Hyun-Shik sneered at me. He and his friends thought they could rule the school because they came from America. I was on the verge of tears but still kept my head down. “Ya! Say something! Are you afraid?” he started laughing.
“Hyun-Shik! Leave Min Jee alone!” Hyun-Shik stopped laughing and turned to look at the source of the voice. I lifted my head to see Jae looking furious with hands clenched at his sides. Jae was my chingu. He always stood up for me. “Omo! I’m soo scared!” Hyun-Shik mocked and resumed laughing. Jae looking infuriated, marched up to Hyun-Shik and pulled him by his shirt. Jae was 6 feet, 6 inches and was towering over Hyun-Shik by four inches.
“Look here. Don ever touch or say anything to her again or else.” He threw Hyun-Shik unto the ground and grabbed me with surprising gentleness leading me to the back of the music room. “Are you okay dongsaeng?” he asked in a caring tone that I couldn’t help but smile. “Ye, I’m fine.”
He got up and stretched out his hand for me to take. “Let’s go to class.”

Lunch break had finally reached and Min Jee couldn’t wait to get out of the classroom for a while. Quickly shoving the rest my books into my bag, I made my way over to the music room. No one was allowed to go in her on breaks but no one really ever comes into the music room. Looking left and right I quietly opened the door and closed it behind me.
I put my bag down and took out my birthday present. The piano piece that my mom had given me was named ‘Enchanted’. Sitting down at the piano, I started playing. From last night until now, I had mastered one third of the piece. My fingers skillfully glided over the piano notes as if I had played it a million times. I closed my eyes as I got deeper into the sound, letting it fill my ears that I didn’t even hear the door open.
“You know you’re really good at that,” said someone from the doorway. My hands stopped moving and my eyes snapped open to see Jae leaning against the door smirking. “Jae! You scared me!” I yelled quietly trying to be serious but failing miserably.
*/Jae’s POV\*
I stood by the doorway, watching Min Jee play the piano. She looked so peaceful and at ease when she does that. “You know you’re really good at that,” I said to her smirking. She jumped and her eyes snapped towards me. “Jae! You scared me!” she said trying to be mad.
I leaned of the door and made my way over towards her. I took a seat next to her on the bench and turned to look at her. “Can you play that piece that you were just playing for me?” I asked. She pouted looking adorable. “Mianhe, I can’t.” “Well can you play something for me?” she considered it for a while before turning back towards the piano and starting a new song.
I intently looked at her. The way she has a faint trace of a smile on her face while she plays, the way her fingers skim over the keys as if they were dancing and the way her eyes close. She looked like an angel. I feel myself falling more and more for her everyday.
