The New Gargoyle

My Hero

Jasmine's POV
A few nights after I learned where we were going, we arrived. The ringleader is allowing me to explore the city because of all the gargoyle sightings that happen. I Bring the first aid kit just in case I get hurt. I may be tough, but I'm not invincible.

I light around for a few hours before I find a building to perch on. The skyline is so beautiful. I almost didn't hear the people sneaking up behind me. I turned around to see three men in dark clothes carrying some strange kind of gun. "I mean you no harm," I said, not wanting to fight.

"You see, girlie, where the Huntsman. We don't take too kindly to your kind," the first one replied.

"My kind?" I was confused. Why wouldn't they like me? I back up towards the edge of the building.

"You gargoyles are pests. We're  here to exterminate you," another said.

One raises a gun at me. I close my eyes and look away. I brace myself for the shot. One second, two seconds, five, no shot was fired. I crack open one eye to see a red gargoyle with the beak and white hair and attacking the men.  One of the shots grazed to shoulder, but he continued to fight unfazed. I watched in awe at the site. Who was he? I watched the men run off and he turned to me. "Are you alright?" He voiced true concern.

"Yes, I'm fine," I told him, "My name is Jasmine. Thank you for saving my life."

"The name's Brooklyn."

"Like the bridge." That's when I noticed his left shoulder had a nasty burn on it. "You're hurt."

He glanced at his wound and shrugged. "It's nothing."

I step closer to him and reach out my hand. "Let me help you, I mean, it's the least I can do." I pull out the first aid kit from my pocket. "Please."

He sits down on an overturned crate on the roof. As I clean the wound, he lets out a little hiss of pain. I wrap it up and sit next to him. "Are you part of the local clan?"

He nods. "Yeah, actually, i'm the second in command."
