Prologue

A white light twisted into a spiral, growing larger and larger by the second. It stopped when it was large enough to admit a small army tank, a perfect circle of light floating among trees so old that they seem to be fossils themselves. The quiet world was on the brink of dawn the night crawlers and fliers hadn't yet returned to bed.

The light hadn't been noticed by this world, but in another, it's absence caused a panic.

In a third dimension, the circle alighted in an abandoned warehouse, unnoticed by the busy humans walking mere miles away.

There was another flash, and a ominous figure appeared in the warehouse. A nearly identical one appeared among the trees, this one slightly taller. The two figures knew each other, but had never met. They were masters of illusion, and like clockwork, they began to shroud the circle from prying eyes.

When they finished, only the most clever and observant eye would have noticed something amiss. The two figures faded into the background, and vanished.
