Shining Stars

Sarah's POV

I screamed I know I shouldn't have but there infront of my eyes was Star my 16,2 friesian horse, he was taken away when my dad died and my step mum and step sister took over, since then I was depressed I lacked doing my chores resulting in being beat more than usual

"Shut up" Martha my step sister sneered

"I'm sorry I just....thank you" I said to Martha putting stars tatted head collar on and leading her out of the field past Martha's show jumper thunder

"Why did you save him" I said pointing at star

"I didn't save him I simply bought him he isn't worth much anyway" Martha said walking away from me

"Now for the chores" I whispered to myself tieing star up and getting the list out of my pocket I read -

CHORES

- muck out all 10 stables

-ride all 10 horses

-feeds them all

-clean the yard

-get the horses in from the feild

-3 hours later-

"Bye bye my shining star" I said to star after putting h back in her stable for the night

"Oh and also to you tottie" I said stroking the mare in the stable next to star, tottie was the pony I rode before star she was amazing and I loved her

I jogged back up to the house to finish the chores

I cleaned all the rooms and did all the washing up so I padded up the stairs towards the cubourd they call my room

"Get here slut" my stepdad screamed, this has been happening every night for two years grabbing me by the collar and shaking me, he punched me repeatedly and left with a final kick to my stumouch, black dots filled my vision as I passed out on the landing

My senses screamed danger as I breathed in smoke, I opened my eyes and realised that everything was on fire and flames were licking my feet, I got up and doubled over in pain remembering that final kick to my stumouch last night, I screamed in pain and heaved myself up and stumbled down the burning stairs in a hurry when I got to the living room I saw three dead bodies in the midst of the flames that was my family, if I was going to leave this house I would need some money I thought Staring at the money box in the corner of the room

"Let's do this" I whispered running into the room as soon a my hand touched the box the ceiling fell covering me in darkness
