The Light of Day

Chapter 5

Annie's POV

I walked in a large meadow looking for peace and quiet. I made sure it was far away from any human, my hunger for blood grew more and more ever day.

But I'll feel horrible if I were to drink blood from a human, I'm afraid into growing into a monster. I lied in the meadow until I saw the sun rising. I cursed myself for forgetting my hood.
I quickly ran as fast as I could but was only able to make it under a tree. I could see the Castle only a few steps away but the sun was too high for me to make it there without getting burned.

I was alone under a tree with my thoughts to keep me company. I heard a twig break and I quickly got up, the fragrance I smelled was so good.

I felt my fangs coming out I tries to snap out of it but my vampiric side refused to let go, a man about in his mid-20s he was carrying buckets of water, he was also wearing a hood.

"are you alright Missy?" he asked me, he had a worried expression written on his face.

"yeah, just wanted to be alone" I gave him a fake smile. I lied cause I actually wanted to go back home. The man smelled so wonderful.

"you sure?, you seem upset, a pretty lady like you shouldn't be sad" he came near me, his scent was getting stronger.

"n-no I'm alright, nooo sadness here,heh" I wanted him to get away from me but it didn't seem to work, he's just so persistent on talking to me .

"you seem sick, are you sure you're alright" he was now face to face to me. His ignorance is going to get him killed, his scent clogged my nose blocking out everything else.

"im sorry, i-i can't help myself, you smell amazing"

"what do you me-ughh" I bit into his neck drinking his blood, he was trying to push me off of him, but I was too strong for him to do so.

"heh, I-I probably should've l-left you alone...now i-i won't be able to f-feed my f-family" my eyes grew wide, and tears filled my eyes, this man I'm killing had a family. I quickly pulled away surprised at myself I had control doing so.

"w-what's wrong Missy?" the man had a confused look, blood was gushing out of his neck, and blood coming out of his mouth. I wanted to lick it so bad, this is a waste of blood.

"you have a family" I asked, the man gave me a small nod. He was growing pale, he's losing to much blood, but I'll feel guilty finishing him off. He soon crooked his head a little presenting the bite to me.

"no I refuse" I said

"its alright, I'm dying any ways so why not" he slightly chuckled. Instead I lied him on my lap waiting for him to die. After a few minutes he stopped breathing. I let out a big sigh and closed my eyes.

"what a waste" I muttered to myself

"yes it was Missy" I opened my eyes to search for the noise that sounded to familiar, I looked down at my lap to see the man that passed awoken again.

"h-how are you alive and well?" I asked, the man shrugged his shoulders.

"i think not killing me turned me into a vampire, man what will my family saw about this?" the man got up and ruffled his hair a bit.

"will they not accept you?" I asked

"nah, they absolutely hate vampires, they'll kill me or kick me out, it'll be impossible to keep this a secret" he answered.

"how come?"

"we have a hound that can sniff out any vampires, the moment I walk in he'll bark like crazy"

After hearing this information I felt really bad,

"you can stay with me at the castle" I offered, I hope Adam won't get mad.

"you mean the castle right up there" he pointed at my home. I nodded slightly

"well, I always wanted to live in a castle. Looks like I'm going to have to fake my death" he joked.

"what about your family?" I asked

"I'll just send them money and food whenever I get the chance" he said.

"by the way my name is Annie" I smiled

"my name is Ashton, well what are we waiting for let's g-OW!" he yelp in pain.

"oh yeah, we can't go out into the sun" can't believe I forgot something so crucial like that.

"well looks like it's not gonna set anytime soon" he said

"you could walk if you have a hood" I pointed at the hood that was in his hand.

"what about you?" he asked.

I shrugged "I'll be fine"

He sat down under the tree. "looks like we'll have a chance to talk" I smiled and talked to Ashton for what was hours. The sun disappeared and the moon arose.

We walked to the castle and continued to talked.
