The Light of Day

Chapter 4

Jackie's P.O.V.

I wake up in my large bed and it's night outside and I was having a headache. Big sis was sleeping next to me and I tried not to wake her up. She really needs her sleep cause she hasn't slept n a while. I get up from the bed and head to my door. I spot Jason standing at his door and he turned to see me. "Hello Jason, what are doing at this hour?" I asked. "Nothing really Jackie, but what are you doing at this hour anyway, you should be sleeping right now, the sun is almost up." Jason said. "I couldn't sleep that's all and please go get some sleep, I worry about you some times when you don't get your sleep."I say and head to see Adam.

Jason's P.O.V.

Jackie was acting really strange. Even though she has the ability to read people's minds doesn't mean that I can just ignore every sign of worry that passes on her face, even though I see them. I walk into my room and flop onto my bed. "Why does she worry so much that she's acting this was?" I say out loud to know one in particular. I get up from my bed and I go over to my book shelves and I pick out one of my favorite books that I would read to then fall sleep very quickly when I normally can't sleep.
I read at least 10 to 20 pages and I'm still wide awake. This isn't normal, I would normally be asleep by now. I guess that my book tricks aren't working anymore. I get up and put the book back and I pick up a new book and I start to read the first 20 to 3 minutes and on the 30th page I fell asleep. Before I fell asleep I realized that my gift, the power to see the future had been flashing in my head keeping me awake.

Jackie's P.O.V.

I walk down the halls trying to clear my head. I have no clue why Jason was acting strangely because when I read his mind all could hear was why is this happening, whats the cause of this and who really killed the human when we didn't. I really don't care about most of the things in his head except for the last though. About who really killed the human when we really didn't. I pondered but got a dead end. I walk the halls and I end up in the main area, I call it the throne room and please don't ask me why. I see Adam with a bunch of people who are talking about the human problem and I walk into the room and I try to not make a sound nor be seen because I didn't want to interrupt there conversation and I saw Adam head to his room, had a conversation then returned back to the throne room.
Adam saw me and waved me over to him and patted to a smaller chair next to him. I sit down and Adam is looking at me. "Jackie, where you listening to the conversation and please don't lie to me or else I'll make you tell me". Adam said. I knew that Adam's gift was compulsion and I don't like it when he does it to me. "Yes I was listening to the conversation and I was trying to not interrupt you, I'm sorry!". I exclaim and I lower my head.
"It's ok Jackie, you an listen to this conversation cause it's good to know whats going on in this kingdom and all I can tell you is that the humans are getting more and more bothersome over the past few months since this incident happened and we didn't do the crime that we are accused of so please don't worry." Adam smiles and ruffles my hair. I smile and listen to the rest of the conversation that they were having.
