Riley's POV.
As I sat on my fire escape, looking out to my view of New York City I thought of what my life had came to, everything that had happened after I moved here. I had completely re-invented my self. I changed my attire to edgy, and added a pink highlight in my hair. I also wore thick black eyeliner that I thought brung out my eyes, but apparently it makes them seem duller. I'd completely let my self change and surrounded my self with people who aren't really good people. I only had one good friend and his name was Farkle minkus, he was a genius and a little weirdo at that, but that's why I loved him, like a friend of course. Then there was Brandon, my boyfriend. There's not a lot to say about Brandon except, he likes causing trouble and gets a hint of happiness for getting told off. I wasn't exactly like that because I always had good grades and always treated the teachers with respect and I'd never think about calling anyone out because I don't believe in bullying. I didn't love Brandon, not as a friend or anything more, in fact I didn't like him that much, he was just a distraction and that's all I was to him.
"Riley." I heard my name being called, my head automatically turned around to see Maya standing there. My face light up almost manually. "Maya, what are you doing here?" I ask her as I stand up hugging her. "We have a lot to talk about, don't we." She says as we both sit down at the bay window. "Yeh, I guess we really do." I say folding my hand in my lap. She hadn't changed one bit as she told me about shawn and Katy deciding to move out here, Katy had better options for working and shawn always travelled anyway do it didn't matter where he was as long as he had somewhere stable to come back to. As for Katy she's working at my mothers new caffe while she continues to audition for acting roles, I really looked up to her for that, she has a dream and she continues to chase it. Maya was her normal self but something about her seemed different, her clothes, they had changed, more authentic and she definitely had her own style. "Wow, well that's great then, when are you starting school?" I ask her. "This Monday and at John Quincy Adams, same school as you peaches." She says is in her old nickname for me. I was happy that Maya was attending the same school as me but I was afraid that if she saw what the new me was like she wouldn't want to be my friend anymore, I'm sure Maya wouldn't do that, but I had endless thoughts off the worst turning points. It's what had become my reality now that I think about it.
