15: Grateful

I open my eyes to bright lights. They were so bright that it burn. As my eyes try to adjust to the brightness I heard a loud beeping sound. I looked around and realized I was in a hospital room. An IV drip ran through my arm. My whole body was in pain. I tried moving my arms and legs everything was too heavy to move.

The door open and in walked was Corey. His eyes were swollen and red with bags under them. He looked so tired and rough looking. We haven't been on the best of terms lately mainly because I was overly mad at him. To see that he still cared for me after me acting like that I felt like a bad friend. Tears slowly ran down my face.

"Mia? You're up! Oh my goodness!" Corey came running to me giving me a big hug. I hissed out in pain he hurried backed up.

"I'm sorry girl let me go get the nurse. Let them know you're up."

He left out and came back with a nurse and doctor. They told me I had a concussion and was in a three day coma. Which shocked and scared me. They did many test including a head CT. My brain was responsive. Everything came back normal. I couldn't talk due to me being choked so hard. They did let me know I will be able to just have to give my esophagus time to heal.

They ask me questions seeing how my memory was. I remember my name everything about who I was. When it came to that night, I had slight memories of what happen. I knew who did it just not what exactly what he did. Only he started yelling at me and grabbed me by my neck and slammed me against the wall. The last thing  I remember I couldn't breath and the rest was blank.

They let me know that I may have mentally blocked out the memory due to the trauma. That I can gain my memory back or it could be gone forever. It was up to me. The police also came and asked me questions. I really couldn't tell them much well I had to write everything out. They were trying to be sympathetic but also inpatient with me. I guess with me not being able to talk and had to write down everything. Cory had to say something a few times for their attitude with me.

Everyone finally left out except Cory. He just kept apologizing for the situation. How he's going to find Eli and kill him. He felt bad that he wasn't there to protect me. I wish I could tell him that it wasn't his fault that I'm sorry that I've been a bad friend and that I love him. Happy that he was here with me.

Cory sat around giving me the 41OK on everything between work, school and Keon. He said that Keon was the one to find me and brought me here. He been at the hospital everyday checking on me. Keon is really pissed off that he can't find Eli.

It was time for Corey to go to work. He didn't want to go but he needed to make some money to pay his tuition. He haven't been all week. He gave me a gentle hug and left out. Reassuring me that he'll be back.

I was tired and in a lot of pain. I had the nurse come in and give me some medicine for the pain. I shortly felt myself drift off to sleep.

I woke up and heard someone talking to me. I open my eyes to see Keon holding my hand. His head was down I think crying. Why would Keon be crying?

"Mia I swear I'm going to kill Eli when I find him. Nobody seen him since that day I found you in your house. Mia I'm sorry for everything you been through. You're too nice and pretty to be going through this. I don't know what it is about you but I can't keep mind off you girl. I don't want nobody to fuck with you. I done became protective over you. I want you Mia real bad." His words hit me hard. I can't believe The Keon Fields is saying this about me.
