As we walked for awhile  longer she said her words splitting the silence between us. "Were almost there." Shortly we arrived at the step to a tall hill. I watched her climb the steps following softly behind her. By the time we got to the top she was hunched over, and panting hard. I picked her up, and walked up to the house she said in a strained voice that the door should be open. The house had an old characteristic look on the outside, the inside was old just like the house itself, but in a well kempt condition.

"This house was an old shrine to a 'god' that abandoned it, and later it fell upon a bank, was soon shortly appraised, and a house realtor sold it to my parents. They are gone on a year long trip for work, and vacation they left this morning," Evelyn stated "Oh .... and since you saved my life you can stay here as long as you like."  She directed me to her bedroom, I sat her down on her bed side she  warmly smiled at me , and continued to chatter  "Thanks there is a bed in my parents room, just to the other side of the corridor."  I left her bedroom, and found the other room, I switched on the lights my gazed danced along the walls clockwise, from the night stands, to the bed. I turned my head as I heard Evelyn scuffing to get beneath her bed covers. I returned to her bed room. She turns her head as I appear in front of her doorway. Our gazes entwine, even from my distance I saw the blush sweep over her face, her pallor eroding away from todays events. she sighed, then said

"Good Night."  I replied the same "Good Night." She closed her eyes. I shut off the light, shut the door slightly leaving a crevice, I walked in silence to the other room. The bed's sheets smooth and untouched by wrinkles. I let my hand fall upon the covers stirring the stillness. I climbed into the bed,  just laying there in bed , I begun to drift off to sleep surrounded by darkness.
