León opened his eyes, noticing he was in a room he never knew of. He lay there, on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. He didn't say anything, but put his guard up.
"I don't know if you're up, but I brought some food." A quiet voice said and the doorknob turned.

The door opened to reveal a girl who looked to be his age. She looked at him, "Oh, you're awake." She approached but he sat up, reaching for his sword at the side of the bed. She stopped walking. "I-I won't do anything..." She said nervously. "I just have some soup, if you want any..."

He put the sword down. "Sorry." He said. "Reflexes."

"It's alright." She pulled a chair over to the side of the bed.

"What am I doing here?" He asked groggily.

"You were severely wounded, so I brought you here." She smiled. "May I ask, what's your name?"

He looked at her then back at the ceiling. "León. León Luis."

"My name is Therru, I guess it's nice to meet you. Anyways, I brought soup." He tried to sit up, but pain from his stomach made him stay down. "Hey! Don't sit up! I'll feed you." She said and sat beside him on the bed.

------

After Therru finished feeding him she sat back down on the chair. She placed the dishes on the desk beside the bed and regarded León. "Garo." She suddenly said making León snap his eyes to her. "Garo, the knight of light, right?"

León began to reach for his sword under the covers. "How do you know?"

"I'm not a Horror. But, my Madou Ring told me." She crossed her arms.

"Madou Ring?" He stopped reaching for his sword. "You have a Madou Ring?"

"Yeah, I do. See?" She showed him Minerva. "This is Mi--"

"My name is Minerva." Her ring said. Therru squinted her eyes at the ring.

"It's been a while, Minerva." Zaruba said.

"Yes, it surely has, Zaruba. Last time I saw you was when the second Garo came to be."

"It's been too long."

"Anyways," Therru started, "León, I think I can trust you."

León broke eye contact with the rings and looked at Therru. "What do you mean exactly?"

"You know how Makai Knights are supposed to be all male, and all? Well, I guess you can say I'm the first female."

León's eyes widened. But that's impossible. He thought. "How?" He asked.

She chuckled lightly. "Long story. Long, long, horrible story." She frowned. León didn't say anything after he saw the grim look on her face. "Well, once upon a time, there lived a little peasant girl who harvested corn all day and night. When this little girl was a baby, her mother tried to kill her by burning her. But, instead the mother died in the fire and the baby was saved, but was scarred for life.
One day, one average day, the peasant girl went into the village to buy a book. But something wasn't right. When she turned around, she saw something that looked like demons. That fateful day, most of the villagers turned into monsters, and the ones that lived, that were killed. The peasant girl ran into the house when her ring spoke and told her to kill them with her fathers sword. And there it is, where the most interesting part in her life ends. Now, the peasant girl lives in some city killing the demons."

León didn't know what to say after the story. "That was you, wasn't it? The peasant girl?" He finally asked.

She stood up and walked to the door. "Yeah." She said before walking out.

------

Therru went upstairs into her room. She lay on the bed, curled up. I shouldn't have told him that. She tried to block out the frightening images of that night. Sighing, she rolled into her back and stared out the window. Eventually, she felt herself falling into the depths of sleep.
