Lord Cheney rested his head against his fist on the throne. Numerous Shadowrath elites and guards were stationed outside of the room. The newly corrupt Wendy, clinged to her new master's leg like the child she is, was feeling any anomalies in the sky if any. Lord Cheney was enjoying a nice black wine and gazing upon the dim lighted room that they were now in.  Obra, the darkest general of Slayn, was overseeing Mercurius's condition; the great weapon still had five shots left.  What the dark lord planned to do with said five shots sent chills down even his own minion's spines.  Perhaps, he was planning to directly assault their armies or caught off their trade routes.
"Master, the void sky is in perfect condition.  The one who controls lightning is not interfering.  Is there any other way I could be useful to your cause?" The corrupt little girl looked up at the dark one with a blank expression on her face, for she was merely a mindless puppet at the moment.  Every so often, she would let out a hum or two to express her inner child.  The dark one wanted to see no sign of authority from the little girl, so he gave her strict orders to be the child she really is. The fact that a child was adored for running a kingdom sickened him.
"The only thing I need you to do is to stay close to me.  I will protect you from the evil warriors of light.  If need be, you must be a hostage for me." Lord Cheney informed in a soft voice to her.  The only thing she did was nod and continue with her creepy humming.  The dark one just relaxed while the child clinged to his leg.  The darkness that plagued her mind increased her magic power to an alarming state, so that she may fight for him as well.  After an hour or so, Obra comes rushing down the stairs and walks into the throne room.
"My lord, the armies of Aguaos, Char, Dalaron, and Kratus are making their way down to us."  Obra informed his master in fear of his response.  Lord Cheney slammed his scepter down in disappointment; he did not suspect an attack so soon.  The Shadowrath turned to face Obra; they were just as shocked as the master was.
"And exactly how well are they faring against the mighty army of Slayn?"  Lord Cheney questioned in a low agitated voice.  Obra gulped in fear of displeasing his master with the grave news.
"Our armies are slowing them down....but...not repelling them." Obra managed to utter before he choked on fear.  Lord Cheney's eyes widened.  How could this be?  They are blind, cold, and hopeless.  Their weapons are ordinary.
"Obra, I want you to prepare Mercurius again. And I want you to UNLEASH HELL UPON THOSE WHO OPPOSE ME.  YOU WILL NOT MISS OR FAIL ME? Do I make myself clear?"  The dark one bellowed in rage then simmered down to how he was before he received the ill-gotten news.  Obra just bowed and ran upstairs again to the peak of the citadel.
"Wendy my dear.  I think it's time you had some play time." Lord Cheney spoke softly in his raspy voice.  The little girl clinging to his leg stood up in her black dress and flip flops with her violet hair flowing to her ankles.  A wicked grin appeared on her face as she adored the idea.
"Yes master.  I will deal with them one by one until they all fall."  Her voice was so gentle and calm, yet ominous.  Even her magic power scared Lord Cheney.  Perhaps, he had put too much darkness into her loving heart and innocent mind.  Lord Cheney was a disturbing and sadistic man.  Wendy skipped away still humming the creepy melody she had been humming since she surrendered to the darkness.
"Now, how is my other prisoner?"  Lord Cheney turned to the corner of the room.  A beaten and broken man stood shackled to the wall.  His breathing was labored, for he had endured a fortnight of torture.
"You will....not get away...with this y'know...this is all a lost cause you scoundrel."  Lord Eucliffe spoke with a weak voice, yet it was still authoritative and deep, as if he were commanding someone.  The man knew he had no authority here.
"I have already gotten away with it blasphemer.  Soon, the others will fall and this world will be mine."  Lord Cheney grinned as he gazed upon the beaten man's wounds.  Scars, burns, and dirt littered the man's body.  In a quick moment, Mercurius was fired again.  The red chaotic purging beam hummed gently and pierced the dark veil surrounding the citadel.  The beam targeted the northern portion of the border; this was where Lord Thestalos's forces were located.  You could imagine how many casualties there were from this.  Legions of Shadowrath were combating forces from the North, West, Northwest, and East.  Emperor Dragneel's forces were located in the Northwest; King Gajeel's were in the West; Lord Thestalos's, as mentioned before, were located in the North; Lord Erik's were located in the East.
"Why do you hide behind that weapon of yours Cheney? Can't you face us like a true man?"  Lord Eucliffe tried taunting the dark one; however, he earned himself another round of torture.  Lord Cheney just ignored him as he was being put through a lot of pain.  Mercurius fired another two times throughout the night.  Most of Thestalos's and Erik's forces were wiped out and were forced to retreat back through the darkness.
"Obra! Do not fire it again! Let them come to us." Lord Cheney ordered with a strict tone in his voice.  The humming stopped as did the vaporizing.  It would be only a matter of time to see the end of all things.  Lord Cheney put faith in his army, his mind slave, and Mercurius.
