This book has been written as a literary resource to promote spiritual development no matter where you are in your search for the Truth. It is dedicated to people of faith from all religions who are open minded enough to realize that our spiritual understanding must continue to evolve if we are to achieve our ultimate spiritual goal—to be One with the God who created us.

As the sequel to the breakthrough novel, Maitreya, Hereafter, is the continuation of an effort to shed light on some of the most mysterious and misunderstood concepts in Christendom—what happens after we die.  For that reason, Hereafter is also a literary tool using fiction to support spiritual enlightenment efforts in America and worldwide.

The Share International organization provided much of the material upon which the fiction-based-on-possible-fact Maitreya story was shaped, but allowing the story to “crossover” into the hereafter required a leap of faith and an inspired imagination. I would also like to recognize the influence of the Baha’i Faith organization, a unifying belief system emphasizing One God and One Human Family, whose followers will be as comfortable practicing their faith in heaven as they are on earth.   

Researching this topic was by necessity limited, but these books were helpful, Heaven is for Real, by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent, Embracing by the Light, by Betty Eadie, Revealing Heaven, by Kat Kerr, and To Heaven and Back, by Mary C. Neal, M.D.,providing material upon which I could fashion a more credible fictional heaven.

Beyond these contributors, the success of Hereafter is the result of the spiritual hunger of countless individuals who believed in and supported this literary ministry by purchasing copies of the book to read and recommend to others.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

RL Morton is a pen name representing a writing team of creative contributors who are collectively responsible for both Maitreya and Hereafter. One of the team members produced the book. He is an educator, publisher, editor, and author living and writing in the Racine, Wisconsin area. Near the end of 15 years of professional experience; writing, editing, and or producing and publishing over 10 books for various authors, he began a five-year collaborative project to write a series of novels, the study guide editions of Unchained, Testament, and Day of Declaration. These were combined into the single novel edition of Maitreya and followed by the sequel, Hereafter.

FOREWORD

You’re about to read Hereafter. Possibly you’ve already read, Maitreya, and may have a sense that the storyline was not pure fiction. Much of the plot was inspired by made-up stories in pop culture, as in the Twilight characters, Bella and Edward, as well as Hunger Games’ Katniss and Peeta. Mixed into the fiction, however, were biblical facts as well as influences of a spiritual Truth I feel blessed to have had been brought to my attention.

Always curious about cutting-edge ideas and open minded enough to entertain the possibility that they might represent an important Truth, several years ago I was listening to Coast to Coast AM radio during a broadcast when Benjamin Crème was being interviewed. After reviewing his Share International website, reading several of his books and the Share International monthly magazine, I was genuinely moved by what seemed like a body of inspired spiritual knowledge taking what we’ve all been traditionally taught to a new enlightened level.

Without trying to become an expert in this esoteric tradition, I was able to adapt the information into a fictional setting. I do encourage any reader of Hereafter or Maitreya to explore this material about Maitreya more closely as well as the Baha'i Faith to see if it represents a collection of Truths that will work to expand your spiritual horizons.

For those readers who already practice a religious tradition, Maitreya and Hereafter are designed to challenge you to justify the foundations of your faith, not replace your beliefs with something entirely different and foreign.

I feel that growing your soul is a slow process that will take many lifetimes. After reading my books, you should know better, and be able to justify, just what it is that you believe.

PREFACE

When Fallon arrives in heaven, few if any of her childhood imaginings were realized. It wasn’t the complete displacement and culture shock that she’d expected. First of all, her glorified body was similar to and certainly much better than the one she left behind on earth. Having a physical body, heaven was a destination with recognizable buildings and roads, places for people with bodies to go and ways to get there.

Fallon soon learned that being in heaven was no vacation. She’d graduated from spiritual grammar school when leaving earth. Now it was time for spiritual boot camp before joining the Marines of the spiritual hierarchy in heaven.
