OUR FIRST SOUL-STICHING MISSION accomplished,we all returned to heaven for some much needed and well deserved R&R. Traveling in the same wormhole, and heading back to our sector in heaven, we all stepped out of the portal at the Soft Landing Café together. Jorus suggested we hold the customary debriefing right there. With the scent of my favorite moringa chai latte wafting right under my nose, I agreed wholeheartedly. Antonio wanted some time to himself to process through the mission before talking about it. Sensing what he was about to say, I quickly tugged on his sleeve effectively cutting him off. Our telepathic powers do come in handy from time to time.
I ushered them to a table right in front of a holodeck because I had questions, lots of them, and I was hoping Jorus could provide answers. Since the holodeck could look into the future, I knew that would be helpful. After we'd relaxed awhile over our drinks and some small talk, I started right in on Jorus.
"I'm worried about Autumn. You guys, you Masters know everything, don't you? Is she going to be all right? Is Egoor going to stay the course? Come on, Jorus, give!"
He took a sip of his soy cappuccino, topped with spectacular 3D latte art of a heart, rolled his eyes, smirked, then, finally answered me after turning to Antonio and giving him an is-she-really-going-to-do-this-right-now look.
"First of all, you're one of us now. Look, you did your job and did it well, but you must realize that it's time to back off and let them test their faith with the choices they make from now on. To answer your question though, yes, I do know what's going to happen. The past, present, and future are all one here in heaven. You can look into the future too, but my advice is don't. These missions are difficult enough without you getting too attached to those you're helping. You have to be able to move on to the next mission without any regrets. Does that make sense?" Jorus wisely suggested, his kind comments reflecting his awareness that we were still learning the ropes as Masters.
"Well, if you two don't mind, it looks as if there's enough daylight for me to get in a quick nine holes. Why don't you discuss whether you want to get back out there right away or rest here in heaven for awhile. Either way is fine with us . . . and by the way, you are one of us now. I'm off."
WITH THAT, JORUS HEADED BACK to his office to pick up his golf clubs leaving Antonio and I to mull over our next move. Antonio wanted to sign up for another mission—all I could think to do was order another moringa chai latte.
NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
No one can say for absolute certainty what happens when we die, where we go, if we live on, or simply vanish into oblivion. We can't know for sure and that's a good thing. That's where faith comes in. Faith allows to believe in things not seen and trust that even without tangible proof, they can be real.
