I stroll (funny word, stroll) down the nearly abandoned street to where Sabrina's waiting for me in front of a clothing store. She hears me, apparently, because she turns to look at me. But immediately I can tell something is wrong. She's wearing a forced smile. I don't know how I can tell, but I can. I walk a bit slower.
"Hey," I say. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." She does a little head tilt and keeps smiling.
"Sabrina, I know something's up. What is it? Is it Tyler again? What?"
She looks conflicted. Like she's deciding whether or not to tell me something. She opens her mouth, then closes. Then opens again. She closes it and takes a deep breath to regain her composure. She starts, but she sees something behind me, and her voice dies. I turn around as in slow motion, and feel a sharp pain in my neck. I reach towards it and pull out a... Dart? I look to where Sabrina was, but my vision's getting fuzzy around the edges. I look up from the weapon. And see a figure in a black hoodie with the hood up, and all I could see of them was the tips of jet black hair hanging from underneath the hood. My legs feel like jelly and I collapse.
The last thing I see before I black out is a pair of bright blue eyes looking down at me.
Cass.
