Days to be Treasured

I love you.

Yvan Davis Ralston and Skylar Nova Macentire, from best friends since birth to lovers 'till death. The two loved each other so much. They do things together. Travel and explore together. Basically do everything together.

Around 7th grade, the two best friends soon felt spark towards each other. Not until 9th grade when Yvan asked Skylar out on a date. Skylar can never forget their first date. Yvan asked her to go on a date on her birthday. They strolled at the park. Yvan taught Skylar how to use the the penny board but Skylar was just too scared. They ate at a local fast food chain and went home and cuddled. Skylar and Yvan were inseparable in their highschool years. They went on numerous dates. Cuddled here and there. Played in the rain several times. Stole kisses and hugs. It seems like they were living the life. They went to prom together and that's the day when Yvan asked Skylar to be his girlfriend. Everyone was in awe to see their relationship. Their parents were very much approved with their relationship. March rolled around and they graduated highschool.

Summer time when the two went university and apartment hunting. They were planning on going to the same university and living together in one apartment. Yvan got accepted into a lot of universities. Skylar on the other hand, had trouble. She got accepted into those universities she and Yvan applied to but she sooner found out that she have stage 4 cancer. She was really devastated to hear the news. She was told that she only have limited days to live.

At one point, she thought of an idea on telling Yvan about her condition without hurting him that much. She made a deal with her boyfriend, a deal that they won't have any source of communication for a day. Of course, being the competitive Yvan he is, he accepted the deal. She did this for him. For Yvan's sake.

A day passed and their deal was off. Skylar passed away hours before the sun rose. Her burial was ready and everything and was just waiting for Yvan to figure out.

Yvan went to their house to tell Skylar that he succeeded in the deal. He bought some flowers and balloons to surprise his girlfriend. When he got there, he saw a note with an address on it and telling him to go there. He looked for the place and when he saw it, his heart were shattered into pieces. He went down the aisle and to Skylar's casket only to find a dead body of his girlfriend and a note.

"Yvan, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I didn't tell you because i don't want to hurt you. I made the deal to see if you can survive a day without me. And you did. And i want you to do it every single day. Please be happy for me. Do things you want to do. Follow your dreams. But always remember that you'll always have a place here in my heart. Enjoy every moment in your life. Please take care of yourself, Yvan. Don't do anything stupid. I love you so much, Yvan Davis Ralston. We may not be married like you wanted us to be but we're married in my mind and heart. Loving you always, Skylar Nova Macentire"

Yvan was balling his eyes out but he remembered, he needs to be strong for Skylar. It was hard for him to move on, but at least his best friend is in a safe place now.

He finished college and found a job he wanted and he was contented with the life he is living. He didn't even bothered to look for another pair because he, himself, knows that Skylar will always be his girl. He never stopped visiting Skylar's grave. He left her favorite flowers everyday. After work, he went there and left another flower, he looked up and said, "I love you, Skylar Nova Macentire. I miss you so much. I hope you're happy wherever you are."
