Ciel's POV
The rim of the glass pressed delicately to my parted lips, though my sapphire eye remained locked on the figure of my butler.Sebastian did appear quite amused, and it was beyond me why he saw fit to stifle such laughter.
What, exactly, was humorous about the current scene?
I was perched properly on the foot of my bed, thin legs crossed. Both pale hands cupped the fine china in which rested the sweetened tea, my frame hunched just slightly, as I had just woken.
Dark strands of navy brushed against my dropping eyelids, the thin line of my lips pulling into an irritated scowl.
Weak moonlight spilled in from the window located to the west, illuminating us both, But pouring a particularly complimenting hue across my butler's glimmering features. His dark eyes stared right into mine, cheek bones defined as ever, puckered lips shadowed.
I dismissed such thoughts from my mind without so much as a second consideration.
My butler is able, but my butler will never be more than this."What is it you find so hilarious, Sebastian? Do tell; I don't find it fit for a proper butler to keep secrets from his master."
My words came frigid and sharp, as if I were a lot more on edge than I appeared. Which, realistically, was typically the case.
He only grinned knowingly, gloved hand pressing an apologetic palm over his heart.
"My apologies, master, though I must comment on the current state of your hair and garments. It appears you endured nothing short of a hurricane."I stiffened, eye shifting from a peaceful stare to a rather threatening glare. "If I do look so disturbing, do something about it."
I watched as he stepped forward, tilting my head as if the entire ordeal bored me beyond imagination.
I felt his gloved hand lower to the top of my head, his slender fingers carding gracefully through the locks atop my head. His other hand lifted as well, tugging gently at specific creases in my night shirt.
Besides a wince, I showed no other response to his advances."Tch. There you are, young master. Now. Are you ready to resume your slumber?"
I shook my head, lowering the teacup with another bored click of my tongue."No. I'm still too shaken to return to sleep." I hissed without hesitation, averting my gaze with a slice of harshness.
"Very well, then. Shall I retrieve yet another cup of tea?" Sebastian bowed his head politely, though never broke his stare.
"No. That wouldn't do any good." I leaned over, placing the emptied cup on my bedside table with a quick glance to my butler. "Simply take a seat beside me; I wish to fall asleep with the reassurance of your presence."
He flashed his signature smirk, as if he was so superior, before sitting cautiously next to me. His smug expression was enough to make me want nothing more than to send my fist crashing across his face.
"Stop with the look." I ordered, turning to face my prestigious property.
Sebastian lifted a hand to rub at the back of his neck, head cocking to the side so that he may release a dramatic sigh. "I must deny knowing what you mean by that, young master."
"You know exactly what I mean. Lose the look or I won't wait a second longer to throw you out of my quarters. Understood?"
"There is no need for such cruel threats. I will keep from displaying such an expression during our time together, master." His voice, even now, was unnaturally smooth and composed, as if constructed by an orchestra.
I felt a faint blush, shielding it with the back of my hand as quickly as I could manage.
Slowly, I peered at him with a quiet cough.
"Sebastian. As you understand, it is nearing midnight. That will mark my birthday. I am turning eighteen." I murmured, meeting his irises of pure crimson with my own of pure blue."I am highly aware, young master. Eighteen is a mighty important age." He smiled, a cold one, a familiar look from this demon I held dear.
I huffed.
"I know what it is I would like."
Sebastian straightened his posture, pressing his palm over his heart in a manner most proper."Do tell, young master. Have no doubt that your closest butler will deliver every desire you may harbor." He closed his eyes, head bowing forward.
I waved my hand dismissively, crossing one leg over the other as I frowned noticeably. "There is no need for such exaggeration, you purebred actress. It is an irrational request indeed, but I ask not for your opinion. Only your body."
