"Come with me" I tell Lauren as she skips beside me.
"This is Tucker, my horse, he is a brown bay, with a white star. He is also a throughbred and an ex-racehorse." I tell her
"Wow, do I get to ride him?!" She asks
"Yup" I say
"So first you are just going to walk him around a bit, just to warm him up!!" I yell to Lauren from across the arena. For a first time rider she is doing good so far.
Dex has avoided me this entire time and is now on the opposite side of the arena in the bleachers.
I walk around the arena to him.
"Your little sister is really good." I say to him.
"Ya, thanks?" He says
"your welcome."
"I'm sorry about today, I...... I didn't feel good and had to leave." He says looking down.
"It's ok. It wasn't your fault that u were sick." I say chuckling.
"So where-" he starts to say.
"Make a figure eight!!" I yell to Lauren.
"Sorry, had to tell her that real quick." I apologize
"It's ok, but what I was going to ask is where did u come from?"
"Oregon, not the best place for horses, to wet." I say
"Well that explains why your so white." He says with a funny smirk.
"Hay!! Just so you know I have actually been working on my tan lately." I say while giving him a playful punch on the shoulder.
"Well looks like you need to try harder." He says.
"Ouch, someone's picky." I smile
"Now practice stopping him at all the corners! And remember not to pull on his mouth to much, he is really sensitive!" I yell to Lauren.
"So I was thinking-" he starts to say.
"Lighter!" I yell to her.
"Sorry, keep going."I say
"Never mind." He says looking down at his hands looking nervous.
Wow, this is what this town calls a bad boy, a nervous, hand wringing boy? That's nothing!
"No, please tell me, I promise I won't interrupt."
"Well I was thinking, since Jess is going to be gone for the rest of the week maybe I could show you around?" He asks
"Wait, Jess is leaving?!"
"Ya, to go camping with her family, they are always ditching school for family trips. I thought she told you." He says.
"No she didn't." I say in deep thought.
But out conversations it cut short by the sound of Lauren yelling
"AHHHHHH!!! Stop horsie! STOP!" With her galloping around the arena on my horses back.
"Let your legs go and pull back!!" I yell at her
" I can't!" She yells.
Without a second thought I jump into the arena.
"Just let your legs go! Just let your legs go!" I repeat over and over.
I jump in front of my horse causing him to almost run into me but completing the goal, making him stop.
I quickly grab the reins and grab Lauren and put her feet on the ground.
