"Krys!" My mother called from downstairs, "get up or you'll be late for your first day of school!" I sat up and rubbed my eyes. A new day at a new school, and I could tell that it wasn't going to go well. I looked around my room, it looked so plain, white walls, a closet, a dresser and a desk; I need to redecorate later, badly. I could do that later, I decided. I pulled my shirt off, stood up, and, stretching, I walked over to the closet.
"Great," I muttered under my breath, I've lived in this tiny town and I still haven't had the chance to go buy that New Castle vintage jacket for my collection. I sighed and pulled out a tank top, a flannel button up, and a pair of faded skinny jeans. Slowly, I walked over to the dresser in the corner of the room, taking my shorts and underwear off as I went. I opened the top drawer and pulled out a bra, socks, and a fresh pair of underwear and pulled them on.
"Krystin! I swear to high heaven, you are slower than a God dammed snail!" I heard my mom shout. I sighed and quickly threw on my clothes and shoved my feet into a pair of black knee-high, heel-less leather boots. I sprinted out of my bedroom and into the bathroom. I gave myself a once-over in the mirror, ran a brush through my hair's, quickly brushed my teeth and put on some de-oderant.
"Finally! What the hell've you been doing up there?" Mom said harshly, handing me a slice of sugared toast. I took a huge bite out of it and grinned.
"Soffy mum," I swallowed, "last minute jitters."
"Mmhmm, well, you'd better get going, I put your bag in your car, it's fully packed, all you have to do is stop by the front office and ask for your schedule." I gave her a warm smile as she stroked my cheek.
"I love you, mom."
"I love you, too, honey." She pulled me in for a hug and kissed the top of my head. "Good luck on your first day, baby." She sighed, reluctantly letting go of me. "Be careful."
"I will, momma." I gave her another smile, grabbed my keys off the counter, and walked out the back door towards my car. I started the car as I got in. The sound of the engine revving up relaxed me a little, and, to give myself a confidence boost, I blasted the radio as I backed out of the driveway.
