1. MORE LIKE FEET-FIRST

I don't really like Hetalia.

Yeah, I know the Axis Powers sweatshirt, Allies shirt, flying mint bunny necklace, cat ears, America shoes, and jeans with the British flag all over them that I was wearing might say otherwise, but I don't, okay? I just don't. I never really felt the need to watch it. And that's that.

If you really must know, my best friend Arielle loves the anime, which was why I was wearing this stuff today.

Today was Tuesday, day two of our school's Spirit Week or whatever. It was sports day, and we were supposed to wear stuff for our favorite sports teams. The "AntiSpirit Week" theme (for all us "rebels") was anime day. And you can guess what I was forced to wear, instead of the chibi-L shirt sitting in my wardrobe that I'd stared at so longingly this morning.

"I'm so sorry, L-san," I moaned to myself as I waited at the corner of my street for both Arielle and our bus to show up.

"Sorry for what? I wouldn't have solved the Kira case without you, my love," his voice purred from behind me.

I whirled around, eyes wide, face bright with a smile. "L!" I said in Light's voice. "You came back for me!"

I ran into Arielle's arms. Yes, Arielle's. I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant is faithful onehundred percent.

Long story short, Arielle and I can kindasorta fake voices pretty darn well. That's actually a big part of how we met (which was at a sleep-away arts camp). And yes, we-mainly, I- do ship L x Light. That's for you, Death Note fans!

I laughed and pulled away from Arielle. "Hey, Ari!" I singsonged in my normal voice. "Didja do your French homework? Oh, and are your lines memorized for the first act of the play? Oh, and did you study for that Calculus test? Ooh. What about-"

"Slow down, Merrie," Arielle laughed. She sat down on the curb and pulled me down with her. "Be lucky you're my best friend, or I'd have your head for calling me that. But yes, I did; yes again, of course; and no, I didn't study. Whoops." She giggled slightly.

I grinned. "Good. We can study together during lunch!"

Suddenly, we could hear the wheeze of the bus turning onto our street. I stood, then turned to help my dear friend up. Then, shivering slightly in the cool of the crisp autumn morning, we continued our conversation.

The bus stopped in front of us, and the doors hissed open. We boarded with a quick "good morning" to the driver, then sat down and kept talking.

I'd been previously teasing her about not studying (studying was something she usually did; she was always prepared), so Ari decided to get back at me.

"Yeah, well, what about the other stuff?" she teased me, knowing full well what my response would be.

I flopped around for an answer. "Ah, well...I...you see...." I scratched the back of my neck sheepishly, laughing. "I still have...a few questions here and there on the...French stuff. But it's only, like, three questions! I can easily BS that in math!" I defended.

"We have a test in Calculus," she responded, grinning wryly.

"Shoot." I smacked my forehead against the seat in front of us. "Then...English? No, not with that old coot as a teacher...gym? Ha; please."
The bus screeched around the corner, and I gasped as I nearly slid into the aisle.

Arielle exploded into loud laughter.

"It's not funny," I griped as sat straight again. But I had to smile.
