Chapter 4: Skipping School And A Dark Walk Home

Yesterday at school was just too much for me with everything that happened with Myer, I have a feeling she’s hiding something from me and I want to know but that was not as weird as what happened with Austin, seriously what is his problem? Not really feeling like going to school today I decided I want to skip school and go to work plus I could use the extra money. 

I decided to finally get out of bed and message Myer telling her I’m not coming in to school today

Chanelle: hey Myer don’t drop by my house today not feeling to well so no school for me , see you tomorrow :) x

After about 2 minutes I got a reply.

Myer: aright I hope you get better, let me know if you need anything at all take care.

I didn’t bother replying after that and showered and got ready for work and headed out for my walk to work. I’m so confused, what is Austin’s problem? What did I ever do to him? I don’t even know why it’s getting to me so badly for some reason I don’t like the thought of him being mad at me, hmmm I just need to get that out of my mind. Before I knew it I made it to Sunset Cafe.

I’ve been at work for about 2 hours now it’s been pretty empty but I have no problem with that at all. I was wiping the tables when I heard the door open, i look up and see no other than the weirdo himself, Austin.

I quickly turn my head I really don’t want him to see me, especially here maybe he will just get what he needs and leave, sadly luck isn’t on my side today. Austin takes a seat in one of the booths, oh god please help me why did I have to be the only waiter today. I finish my table and go grab a pen and paper and make my way over to the booth he is at.

“Hello welcome to Sunset Cafe what can I get for you today?" I ask, but keep my face down. 

“Just a large weak latte." he says sharply, god his so rude, he doesn’t even look up at all to, well I’m actually thankful for that. 

"Ok ill just be a minute." I said dryly as I write down the order and get ready to get his order for him hope to escape quickly, but yeah like I said before luck isn’t on my side and he speaks again before I get to leave.

"Oh and Chanelle trying to hide your face from me by hanging it down and me being seated isn’t really a smart idea" he said, I could tell he would probably be smirking. Yeah he was right I really didn’t think of that, so dumb Chanelle, is scolded myself. I ignored his comment and went to get his order.

After I was done make his latte I returned to his table and put it down. I went to walk away without saying anything but before I could walk away he grabbed my bad wrist and I hissed in pain and he immediately let go, I turned around to look at him.

“What do you want Austin?" I said dryly.

"First I’m uh......sorryaboutyourwrist." he said, huh my popular is apologising!

"Ummm sorry what was that?" I replied acting like I didn’t hear him.

“sorryaboutyourwrist." he quickly said again.

"Sorry could you say that slower I didn’t quite catch what you said." I said, I could tell he was debating whether or not to say what he said again, it was funny to watch.

"Um nothing, anyway why aren’t you at school?" he asked trying to change the subject; ha I’ll let the subject drop...for now.

“Because I didn’t want to go and I could use the extra money." I replied looking at him, he looked at me a hint of guilty shone through his eyes but he quickly covered it, well why is he feeling guilty weird right? He didn’t say anything after my reply so I decided to speak again.

“So why aren’t you at school?" I asked him.

“That’s none of your business." he snapped, ummmm okay what’s his problem seriously? He was just fine and now this seriously.

“Well no need to be rude Austin it was just a question." I snapped and walked away not turning around.

I was hanging around the counter when Austin came up. and dropped a 10 dollar bill on it and started walking away, before he could leave I stopped him.

“Um aren’t you going to wait for your change?" I asked, like seriously the latte was only 5 dollars.

“No, like you said you need the extra money so keep the rest for you." he said and walked away.

Umm well I’m officially worried about him he has big issues I mean really big issues, how is it possible for someone to change moods that quickly?

After that day at work that felt like it was years I started making my way back home is was getting pretty dark out now. As I was walking home I could feel someone following I turned around but saw nothing, I then heard footsteps behind me I turned around and saw someone run behind a tree. By now I was so scared I started running but heard the footsteps getting closer and closer and then I was grabbed from behind and a hand covered my mouth before I could scream. I started trying to get out of the persons grip but this person was really strong I started struggling and struggling.

I persons grip on me loosened for a bit and it was my only chance so I head budded him and started running, soon after I started running I heard the footsteps again, I was grabbed again and the hand went over my mouth again and then he started dragging me to where, I have no idea from what I could see it was an alleyway, now I was really scared and started panicking.

“Hey sweetheart what’s a girl like you doing all alone walking around at night?" he said, gosh this guy sounded so old, drunk and sleazy. 

“I would love to have a lot of fun with a pretty girl like you." he said; by now I had tears running down my face, this couldn’t be happening to me please someone help me.

he removed his hand from my mouth and I start kicking my legs up in the air and screaming hoping someone would hear me but who’s going to me in this alleyway no one would be out, by now it was dark. But I still continued to scream.

“Sweetie screaming won’t help you no one is going to come and help you." he said laughing. I screamed even louder when he started trying to remove my top and then the moment I was hoping to happen happened.

“WHOS THERE?!"  Someone yelled it sounded like a guy my kidnapper stopped trying to undress me and turned me around to face him; he had green eyes and so many wrinkles and black hair.

“You’re lucky this time little girl" he whispered to me before he ran off. I started sobbing now thank god for that person, oh yeah that person.

“HELLO WHOS HERE?!" they yelled again.

“H-h-h-help...” I said as loudly as I could while sobbing. i soon heard footsteps getting closer and closer I looked up to see me savvier...

“A-Austin?" I cried. He looked down at me and his eyes went wide once he saw who I was and the state I was in he bent down and pulled me into his lap.

"Shhhh don’t worry Chanelle, I’m here now." he said and I cried even more.
