Chapter 18

Achilles and I were laying in our bed, wrapped in each other's arms. I sighed, resting my head on his chest, listening to his heart beat.
"I should probably start being an actual Alpha again, huh?" Achilles whispered, running his fingers through my hair.

I looked up at him with a smile, "You can take as long as you need. I've been handling it pretty well. Reese on the other hand..."

He chuckled, "I know what he did. Sending another Alpha a nice reply to a document that Alpha sent."

"I almost slapped him, but I actually couldn't stop laughing. He's an idiot."

"I know, but he's a good Beta."

"He is, needs to work on his babysitting skills."

"Why do you think his mate always watches the baby?" Achilles laughed.

I chuckled and cuddled closer to him, wrapping my arms around his abdomen. He sighed in content, he arm pulled me closer to him. He made me look at him before crushing his lips against mine. We kissed with fierce passion, our grips on each other becoming tighter. My heart swelled with my love for this man, I couldn't be happier.

Our make-out session was cut short when someone knocked on our door. Achilles groaned and cleared his throat.

"Yes?" He asked.

"Uh, I have bad news." Reese's voice sounded.

I tensed up, "What?"

"That Hunter guy, Darrel, escaped. He killed two of our guards."

Both of us were frozen when a growl escaped Achilles' throat. He stood up and quickly threw on some clothes. He sighed and looked at me, his eyes softening.

"I'll be out in a minute." He called.

"Yes, Alpha." Reese responded before leaving.

Achilles grabbed me and kissed me on the head, "What's wrong?" He whispered.

I bit my lip, "What if...what if he takes you again?" I whispered.

Achilles frowned and kissed me on the lips, "He's not going to take me again. I learned my lesson last time. I'm going to kill him the minute I find him."

I nodded and hugged him, "I love you."

"I know baby girl, I love you too." He murmured, stroking my hair.

I quickly got changed as Achilles waited for me, once I was finished we walked down to his office. Reese was already there, sitting in a chair with a frightened look. Achilles sat in his chair and made me sit on his lap.

"Do you know where he is?" Achilles asked.

Reese shook his head, "No, his scent was covered up. A third guard, Penelope is missing as well. Her scent was strong in his cell."

"Which means either he took her or she's working with him." Achilles sighed. "I'm assuming her scent is also covered?"

"Yes, Alpha."

Achilles ran his hand through his hair, "Search the whole territory for them. Also, I want three groups of four patrolling the territory."

Reese nodded and left, closing the door behind him. I turned and cupped Achilles cheek. I smiled at him and kissed him on the cheeks.

"Relax, I'll alert Henry and Sadie and other neighboring packs. Someone is bound to see them." I voiced.

Achilles nodded, "And I'll go on patrol."

"What? I want to-

"No, you are to stay here. I don't want you getting hurt or killed if anything happens. Plus, our son is here." He stated firmly.

I frowned at him, "What about you?"

"I can handle them."

I sighed in defeat, I couldn't just keep asking people to watch over my son. I nodded and kissed him on the head.

"Don't do anything stupid." I ordered.

He smirked, "Love you too."

I couldn't help but smile at him, "I love you, just please be careful." I pleaded.

He nodded and kissed me once more before we parted. I watched as he closed the office door. I sighed, why can't anything go right for once?
