I Swear, I'm Innocent

"Excuse me!" I shouted as I forced my way forwards.

To no surprise, the fight involved Wrath and Akane. I knew Wrath, who's real name was Orion, but didn't know Akane on a personal level. I only knew her at all because of how many fights I've had to break up with her involved.

At this point, Wrath was so angry, he was attacking Chris as well. He got his nickname from his anger issues.

Chris caught Akane's kick but Wrath tackled him to the ground. I knew that if I didn't step in, Chris was gonna suffer from a few painful hits to say the least. I rushed up and put my arm around Wrath's neck then tugged and pulled him off of Chris. Once he was off, I shoved him back. "Deep breaths, Wrath!"

I could see the anger starting to leave his eyes, up until Akane drop kicked him. I sighed and helped Chris up, who was certainly relieved that I chose to step in when I did. "This may take a little effort to stop." He theorized.

"Try to hurt them as little as possible, alright?" I pleaded.

"Understood." He immediately threw that out the window by kneeing Akane when she ran at him.

I leaned to the right to avoid a high kick from Wrath then shoved his foot up, making him fall. He helicopter kicked and knocked me to the ground, then was instantly up on his feet, forcing me to roll to the side as he tried to stomp on my stomach.

Akane punched Chris in the gut several times but, because using his hammer requires strong abs, it was about as effective as punching a brick wall. She found herself spun around and in a full nelson.

Wrath swung his arm at me, so I raised my own to block it, assuming it was a punch. But when he locked my arm in his, I instantly had a terrible feeling. He flipped me to the ground and wrapped his body around my arm. I knew what he was gonna do. One thing he was known for were his death rolls. When he tried it, I rolled with him, lifting my arm to slam him down hard. I instantly recovered and put him in a light choke hold. "You know when you're beaten, Wrath."

He finally started to relax so I let go and backed away... only to get tackled by an officer.

I found myself in the principal's office. "Sit." Mrs. Marcy, the principal (who'd have guessed?), ordered. The only chairs were right in front of her desk so I took a seat. She walked over to the door and closed it.

I hung my head. "Aww..." Everyone in the school knew that a closed door meant punishment.

When she sat down, the lecture began. "This is the sixth fight you've been in and it's only halfway through the second month of the school year. Can you explain your acts of aggression?"

My jaw dropped. "Aggression?! I'm the one who helped stop the fight!" I protested.

"Don't raise your voice to me." She stated firmly. "I asked 3 witnesses and they all said you threw yourself at Orion and that's how the fight started.

Another jaw drop. "The fight was already going on when I got involved and I was only helping Chris!"

She raised a hand to stop me. "Do NOT yell at me again." She demanded. "Clearly they did something to anger you. Tell me what it was and we can get it cleared up."

I sighed. "I wasn't angry. I was preventing Wrath and Akane from seriously hurting each other."

"Wrath?"

I remembered she didn't know his nickname. "Orion."

"Tell me the truth. What happened?"

"I saw a fight break out so I rushed to stop it."

Frustration spread across her face, despite her efforts to hide it. "Lying is doing you no good."

"But that's the truth!" I exclaimed.

"Just admit to starting the fight."

"I'm not gonna lie and say what you wanna hear!" I promised.

She sighed. "After today, you will be suspended for the remainder of the week. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. A call will be made to inform your parents of what happened."

"Great..." I grumbled.

"You'll spend the rest of the day in detention."

May, Naru, Nikki, Max, and Louiee were all waiting for me when I got out of the office.

"Did you receive judgement?" Max asked.

Nikki rolled her eyes. "Everyone knows a closed door means punishment."

"Well I didn't..."

"I'm suspended for the rest of the week and have to spend the rest of the day in detention..." I sulked.

Max inhaled sharply. "Brutal..."

I sat in the detention room, spinning my cross and staring at the sheet of paper I was handed when I walked in. It asked a whole bunch of questions like, "What did you do to get sent to detention" and "why did you do it." Since I had nothing better to do, I had filled it out in the first fifteen minutes. Only three and a half more hours to go... Such a depressing thought.

My phone vibrated. I cringed and looked up at the supervisor. He was busy grading papers. After looking around the room, I noticed several people on their phones. I silenced mine and looked at the text. Of course, Chris was the one who sent it.

How's detention? He asked.

Very funny, Chris... I thought of my own question. What was your consequence?

He replied 15 seconds later. You were the only one who got one. Even Akane got off with a warning.

That's not cool at all...

There was a full minute before he sent anything again. Louiee says to text her.

That request made no sense. Why can't she message me first?

She said she doesn't feel like it.

Still no sense. Then what says she'll even respond at all?

I can tell you she doesn't.

I sighed. Tell her that if she wants to talk to me, she has to start the conversation.

After a few minutes of nothing, I started playing games.

With a thud, my head hit the desk. Boredom was killing me and there was still an hour and a half before school ended. Exhaustion hit me like a freight train and before I knew it, I was asleep.
