Four winters later, I step into my warm cottage, snow dripping from my cloak. I remove it and hang it on a peg, walking into the kitchen. My eldest child, Madelyn, runs to greet me. I give her a quick hug and turn to find myself being wrapped into someone else's embrace. I smile up at my husband, taking in the twinkle in his soft brown eyes.
That twinkle takes me back to the same twinkle that illuminated Senara's ocean blue eyes. I remember for not the first time that it was Ara who brought Gavin and I together. If it weren't for her, we never would have met. I would not have the loving husband and kind children I am blessed with now. I wonder what has become of Ara, my beautiful snowy white wolf companion.
