Remember

Remember on the playground,
How we believed all we wanted to do was grow up,
How we grew up laughing,
And things got better fast,
Cause we never realized things change,
And things break and disappear,
But we weren't aware,

Remember conversations that didn't make sense,
And we were daredevils,
But,you know,we weren't afraid,
Pleasantly oblivious we were in a big world,
And bad things happened,
We were small as ants,
But none of us knew that.

Remember escapades in the dark,
Running cross fields barefoot,
Watching pinprick stars and laughing till we fell asleep,
Felt like flying,
We couldn't,
But we didn't care.

And we were on top of the world,
But we didn't know it then.
