Midnight Coffee Ch 1

Mary's POV

I searched the sea of people as I left my gate at the airport, attempting to find my family. My head dodged around, until I heard someone call my name.

"Mary!" My father's voice echoed.

I began to follow where the sound came from.

Behind a tall man, I could barely make out my father's balding head.

"Daddy!" I shouted, running toward the man that I had not seen in years.

"Princess! Oh how I've missed you!" My father exclaimed, enveloping me in a hug.

I pulled away and scanned the man that I had not seen in about four years.

"Dad! I've missed you so much!" I said again before diving back into his arms.

"Mary, we've all missed you. Though, I think we should go and collect your luggages now," my Dad said, but his voice was muffled.

I nodded before peeling myself off of him and heading to luggage claim.

---

"Mummy! I'm home!" I yelled, my voice bouncing off the large walls of the mansion.

"Is that my Mary's voice?" my Mum joked, her head peeking from the kitchen.

I practically leaped toward my mother and nuzzled my head into her shoulder.

I already knew that tears were pricking at my mother's eyes.

"You're home, you're finally home!" She cheered, moreover to herself.

My Mum finally pulled away before planting a kiss on my forehead.

"Joshua! Elijah! Come say hello to your sister!" My Mum yelled up the stairs.

Soon, I began to hear thumping of feet racing down the spiral staircase.

"Mary!" The boys yelled in unison.

Joshua, my older brother, came to hug me first. When he separated himself from me, I began to analyse his appearance.

He had grown to be at least a foot taller than me. His brown hair was styled short and fitted him well. His muscles were toning, he was beginning to look like a man.

"Oy! Where's the small lad I left here four years ago?" I joked.

Josh answered by tilting his chin up and flexing his biceps.

"I guess you could say that the lad had hit puberty, or beat the shit-"

"Joshua," my mother said sternly, acknowledging the fact that my brother was about to swear.

Swearing was an absolute no no in the Green residence.

"Sorry," Joshua muttered before moving over so that Elijah could greet me.

"Elijah!" I shouted excitedly, crouching down a bit to meet my younger brother.

"Mary! I've missed you!" he replied, jumping into my arms.

I groaned under the weight.

Elijah had been four years-old when I left him. He clung onto me everywhere we went. He even insisted on joining me to Africa when I left.
