Rain drops scattered across the open balcony, creating dazzling pools of sparkling water along the banister, dampening the wood underneath Cynthia's clenched hands. She had been stood in the rain for nearing an hour, thoughts caught on a memory that replayed in her head and caused unbelievable pain; it was merely refreshing to be out in the cold for a period of time. The rain drowned out her tears, refreshing her damp face as she stood alone in the wind, one hand clutching around the wooden railing, and the other clamping around a piece of parchment, now slightly wetter due to being exposed to the rain. It had been so long since she'd last received a letter from King's Landing, and the days went no quicker since the last time, as now Cynthia was just desperate to hear from her sister, who resided far south at the capital. Mira had been busy, to say the least, fretting over Lady Margaery who soon would be queen. Cynthia was happy for Mira, who would be a handmaiden to the queen of the seven kingdoms, but she could not help but wish that her sister would come home soon, and see the remainder of her family while they were still here. Mira had loved Ethan like all the other's, and was just as devastated to hear of his death; Cynthia didn't want her to have to hear of more deaths that she would miss. She still hoped Mira would return when Asher came home, but she knew it was just a long shot.
The letter had spoke of Mira's exciting life in King's Landing, and how Elyssa had placed her in an awkward stance with Margaery, constantly asking for favours. Cynthia knew it must have been difficult, and she believed Mira was not in such a position to get the future queen to fix all of the family's problems, but she also trusted Mira would do all she could where she was in order to help in the best way possible. She only hoped that didn't mean getting herself into serious trouble.
Hearing from her sister had Cynthia thinking of all the times the two girls had spent together. They had been the closest of friends the entirety of their lives, and now they were so far apart it was hard to remember what one another looked like. With Ethan's death, Cynthia had begun getting concerned for her siblings safety. She dared not think of Asher returning from Essos, knowing that if she started seeing the worst outcomes of that trip, she would sooner break down. But Mira, Cynthia didn't even want to consider how heart broken she would be if she lost her beloved sister. She wouldn't manage with that loss. Not after just having lost her little brother, she couldn't face losing her sister as well. She had become overly protective of Talia these days, after the loss of the young girl's twin, she would hardly let her out of her sight without knowing someone would be with her at all times. She knew Rodrik was the same, and between the two of them Talia was never alone. And with her hardly coping without her brother, she spent most of her time with them by her own choosing, finding comfort in her other siblings' company. She had asked to hear more stories of Cynthia's childhood in the passing days, in order to distract her from her own reminiscing. Cynthia was more than willing to tell her of all the antics her and her siblings had gotten up to when they were young, enjoying recalling all of the fun times.
Talia especially liked hearing of Asher, before he got so angry and had fallen for Gwyn. Cynthia could remember that Asher clearly, as she had loved him back then. And even now, Asher was still her first and only love. She spoke of him with so much compassion, but it hurt. It hurt remembering his better days because she knew it didn't last, she knew that for some reason, his joy and fun nature turned cold one day, and the only thing that resolved it was a poisonous love. Talia had always hated Gwyn, all the Forresters had as she was the reason their brother was gone - not that that whore had ever cared for any of Asher's siblings, or his feelings for that matter. But Cynthia had always hated her far more than the others. She hated her for reasons only Rodrik would have understood, and for some crazy reason she never did tell Asher about them. She let him dwindle to his fate, constantly being rejected whenever she attempted to warn him, or help him. All Asher ever cared for was Gwyn, but when that clicked, no one knew. That was why Talia enjoyed hearing of his days before then, she loved her brother before he had turned sour, she loved her loving brother. He had always cared so much for his little sister, always looked after her with so much affection, and to everyone who knew him, it was obvious Talia was his favourite sibling. She was his princess. And Cynthia made sure to tell her that every time they spoke of him, just because if he were not to return home, one of them deserved to know he loved them, and if it wasn't Cynthia, it should at least be the light of his life.
