How promises are made...

"Whoa, Blake, you have the grandest house ever!" I couldn't help but exclaim as we enter their majestic house... no, it's a mansion! I wondered how many rooms were in there. It's so big I thought our house will fit in there twice, thrice even!

The exterior was painted dull red and a fountain was waiting outside giving the house a circular driveway. We had to walk a distance from the gate before we get to reach the main door. Far on the right was a huge space for garage. I counted the cars and reached six – all of them luxurious ones. And I was sure there were couple of empty spaces waiting for its occupants. Anyway, to cut it short they're filthy rich. His parents owned vast lands of plantation and run a company that manufacture these products into goods for example wines and coffee. I knew they have a lot more and I didn't want to enumerate them as I'd just get dizzy.

"It's not mine. I just happen to live here," he said nonchalantly. One thing I liked about him, he was't a show off.

It's only two years later that I got to be in their house. And he didn't even tell me it's this big. He didn't plan on bringing me here today, it's just that we had a project to do and we can't do it in our house because my parents were hosting a party there. I guessed it was a blessing in disguise because I finally got to be in their house.

"You will inherit this place anyway," I pointed out.

"Well, we'll get to that," he said. Well, I knew he had better plans in his mind. He didn't want to inherit this but rather make his own company independent of his parents' help. So stubborn. How hard it was to just accept help from parents, right?

So anyway, he let me in partially expecting to have a butler to greet us but there's none. And it was even more amazing on the inside. Huge crystal chandeliers hung on the high ceilings, a grand staircase, expensive paintings hung on the wall, figurines, and the like. My observation was cut short when someone spoke.

"Blake?"

We both turned to look at the elegant woman who just came out from the hallway. "Oh, Mother." Blake left me to give his mother a peck on her cheek. And immediately went back to me. I can see by that way that they're not really close or the sort. He once told me how he felt distant to his parents. It's like he didn't have parents because they were always out. He's always alone in this enormous mansion. I can already imagine his despair in living in this huge place.

"Uhm, Venice is with me. Remember her?" He said and she nodded. We already met before. That was when Blake and I got into trouble 2 years ago.

Her mother lifted a brow as if suspecting that I was just another girl Blake brought home. "Good morning, Ma'am," I said as polite as I could. Like he's Blake's mom and I should give her the best impression on me. "Good morning. It's been a while," she said and just smiled knowingly.

"We're just here to do a school project," explained Blake.

"I see. I'm going to be out all day, maybe night too. You two have fun. I'll tell Marcie to send in something to eat." That was all and she sashayed away.

Soon, we started on our project. Surprisingly, Blake was silent and I did all the talking. I almost looked like a mad person but I continued doing so. It was already five in the afternoon when we finished it. I stretched in a little. "Thank goodness," I couldn't help but mutter. My back hurt a little. My eyes too, they were in front of the computer since this morning. I yawned which Blake noticed.

"You can rest first before you go," he said for the first time since his silence. And I couldn't resist that. "Okay, just wake me up after an hour," I said and again yawned. I absentmindedly crawled in his bed and there I fell asleep.
