Chapter 1

Nari POV
The heat of the flames  were illuminating off of the burning house were rapidly increasing to the point that the black smoke was making it impossible for me to see, let alone breath. ~~
Mom.... Where is she I got to           find her but I can't see...
Finally I came up to a body that was laying on the floor faces down. When I saw a ring and bracelet on the body's left hand, I realize that it was my mom but then I loses myself on what to do next. I was still a little girl way to little to understand what was even going on or how dangerous the situation was. I began to scream to her and shaking her, hoping it would wake her up, but nothing worked. Tears filled my eyes as the flames increased and I held my mom's lifeless hand thinking that she was only sleeping.~~
    This isn't right....mom please
the heat is unbearable....
                        .....so please wake up!
I don't know what to do!
           Don't..
                  Don't....
                        Don't.....
                               Don't leave me!

Nari POV
I opened my eyes to a blinding bright light and the song "This is Gospel" by Panic at the Disco in my ears. After my eyes got adjusted to the light I looked out the plane window and saw nothing but puffy white clouds and blue skies. I really was leaving the States, leaving everything I really ever knew behind and going to a new land. A new land that I've always knew about and everything but only thought I was learning cause my parents, who were Asian....unlike me.

I was adopted when I was six by a really rich Korean family. They taught me how to read, write and speak in Korean. I also learn the country's culture, they even introduce me to some of the foods. I've always been told that maybe one day I would have to move with them to South Korea but I thought that everything would work out here in the States so we wouldn't have to but that changed in this past year when my father was getting information that there was serious problems with a couple of his hospitals in South Korea.

Not realizing how much I was in my thoughts. My mother placed her hand on top of mine and gave it a little squeeze as a sign of reassurance. I stop looking out the window and looked towards her. Giving her a small fake smile and then removing my headphones to listen to what she had to say.

"Nari we have only three hours left before we arrive to Korea!" She said with an exciting smile and another but tighter squeeze to my hand. I knew that my mother loved the states but she was still homesick and when father told us the news she was over filled with joy. The same goes to my father, every time he would come back from a business trip in Korea he instantly wanted to go back. I secretly always thought that even though they were my parents they still weren't blood to me. So I've always felt that I have a bit of a debt that I owe them for taking in a child like me. I've have done anything and everything to make them proud of me and never wanted to make them disappointed.

"I can't wait to see it!" I lied with excited tone in my voice and I even topped it off with a fake large smile. As I was just about to put my headphones back in and listen to music my father looked up from his newspaper

"Nari have you finished all the paperwork for your new school enrollment, you need to get back into school as soon as possible."

"Yah!! How can she get started with school when she's not even settled yet let her get adjusted first!" Mother said as she turned towards him, letting go of my hand and grabbing his to give him a rough squeeze.

"I understand that but it should only take her a week to get a hang of thing." He said as he patted her hands and then looked to me for an answer to his question.

"Yes sir I finished it all yesterday. The rules and everything seem to be straightforward and understandable." I said reaching down in between my legs to grab my bag. I unzipped the larger pockets and pulled at a yellow envelope and handed it to him. He seems very pleased with it and nodded as he took it from me. My mother gave a little pounding noise to the fact that he was rushing me back into school, which I didn't mind. School here was suppose to be all about education not social life and popularity.
