Having a soulmate sucked. Well, probably not the way you think, but still. When you can't find them it's like torture. The world is in black and white, and the only way to change it is to touch your soulmate. It'd been basically forever, you couldn't handle running into people much more. You sighed. "Y/N? You okay?" your best friend Yamaguchi asked. He looked very concerned and worry streaked his face.
"Yeah I'm okay, just thinking about soulmates again. Tell me what colors are like again Yams?" Yamaguchi had known his soulmate for years, his best friend Tsukishima. They were adorable and almost inseparable. Yamaguchi nodded.
"The sky is blue, the feeling of being sad and the ocean between your fingers..."LATER
You woke up to someone slightly shoving you. You rubbed your eyes and moaned. "Wake up now Y/N."
"Ugh Yams why?"
"M-My game?" You sat straight up and stretched.
"Why didn't you say so? This is my first time seeing you and Tsukki play!" You stood up, smoothing out your clothes.
"A-About that.." You shushed him.
"No spoilers! Who are you playing?"
"Our rival, Nekoma. It's some old thing that the coaches keep up.."
"Isn't that in Tokyo? That's so cool Yams!"
"Yeah I guess, let's get going Y/N." You both scurried out of his house and began to walk toward Karasuno. One of Yamaguchi's favorite things was to tease you about your height. You were about as tall as your friend Yachi, after all that is what made you two become friends. He teased how you wouldn't even be able to touch the top of the volleyball net, joking of course. You took it as a challenge and ran ahead to the school, Yamaguchi stumbling behind
When you arrived you waited for Yams and then he walked you over to Yachi, who was deep in thought. "Yachi!" You yelled as you wrapped your arms around her. She jumped and her face turned slightly whiter. She hugged you back and scolded you for scaring her. You both then started to talk about how school was going, as you were in the class right below her. "Yachi I gotta prove Yams wrong by touching the top of the net." You whispered when Yamaguchi wandered over to his boyfriend.
"A-Are you sure you can reach it? It's high and we're both vertically challenged.."
"I'm gonna do it." With that you walked over to the net and began jumping to try to touch the top, not noticing the other team walking in.
"When did they get another cute manager?! This isn't fair!" The guys from Nekoma whined. You heard them groaning and ignored them, determined to prove Yamaguchi wrong. The problem however, was that you were no where near close to touching the top. You could hear snickering from Yams and Tsukki, which made you jump higher. Unknown to you, the captain of Nekoma had walked over to see what you were doing.
"Can I ask what you are doing?" You froze and looked up. He towered over you.
"I was told I can reach the top of the net, so I'm going to." You stated, jumping again.
"Here I'll lift you up. They didn't say how you had to reach it right? Also you're preventing the game from starting.."
"Okay." He picked your up and you touched the top of the net, while balanced on his shoulders. The world was so weird from high up. He set you back down and you smirked walking over to Yams. "Gotchu there Yams." You sat down and watched the game start. The player that held you up seemed to be the captain and his red jersey compli- wait red? Colors began to seep into everything around you. You looked at your hands, your clothes, everything. Color was so fascinating. You looked up to see the captain looking down at his jersey. He was astounded. You were soulmates. With the giant god looking boy from the other team. Great. You looked back at Karasuno, feeling his eyes on you. He knew. The game began, and all you could think about was how you were going to get out of this awkward situation that was brewing. Your soulmate, however, was more keen on impressing you. This didn't work however as he was still getting used to colors and he missed many times. Every time he'd make contact he'd look at you, to see if you saw. You focused on your own team, periodically talking to Yachi. The game was almost over, with Karasuno close behind Nekoma. You nudged Yachi, and she nodded. She walked you to the door and you started to walk home. Away from your soulmate. You had to, you had a curfew and you lived a ways away. You heard the whistle from the schools entrance. The game had ended. Suddenly you heard running behind you and you were pulled off the ground in one quick motion.
"You can't leave me. I need you." He whispered, holding you close, bridal style.
"U-Uh okay.. I'm Y/N. You are?"
"Y/N," he breathed. He cleared his throat and looked down at you. "I'm Kuroo Tetsuro, your soulmate."
