"Again?!" You screeched looking in the mirror. Your eyes, one brown one yellow, stared back at you. Whoever was doing this was sadistic and must want you to be made fun of for the rest of your life. Especially during your last week in America before moving to Tokyo. Your father had gotten a job at a Japanese advertising company, forcing you to pack up your bags. You sighed, there was nothing you could do now. You kept your hair natural, a honey brown that you enjoyed. But looking at your eyes, you had a different idea. Why not dye your hair after you arrive? Punish whoever thought that these hair colors were okay. You smirked; hopefully, they felt the embarrassment when you dyed your hair that you felt walking around with one normal eye and one the color of urine.
"Y/N! It's time for school! You don't want to miss your last week do you?" Your mother called from the bottom of the stairs. You ran down the stairs to avoid being late, again. "Honey what happened to your eyes?!" You sighed, this was going to be a long week.
One Week Later~
Well, Tokyo is weird. Especially when your Japanese is remedial at best. Hopefully, you'll meet some girls who speak English at school tomorrow. You only agreed to go the day after you arrived if you could dye your hair how you pleased. You had picked the colors out already. Red and pink, mixed together. Let's see how that jerk deals with pink and red eyes. They'll look terrifying, to be honest, but you didn't care. People gave you weird looks this entire week, and even more so in Japan. Apparently having non-brown eyes was super rare. You made it to the cab with your parents and set off for your new home.
When you arrived and settled in, you started your transformation. Bleaching your hair took longer than expected, and you ended up staying up until 4am. But your hair looked cool. You woke up at seven and began to get ready. Looking your mismatched eyes in the mirror, you sighed deeply. Wherever this person was, they had a sick sense of humor. But now they had pink and red eyes, so all's fair in love and war.
Walking into your new high school was nerve-wracking, especially when you barely knew Japanese and your hair was brightly colored. You were stared at the entire time you walked to the office. "H-Hello? This is my frst day, and I dont speak a lot of Japanese.." The older lady at the desk smiled and replied in perfect English what your schedule said. "Thank you so much!" You ran out the door, already late for your class. You walked in, and all eyes were on you. "Where should I sit?" You asked in subpar Japanese.
"Wherever you can find a spot...Y/N is it?"
"Yes sir, sorry for the intrusion." You walked back to your seat and began the first of many hours of translating hell.
The final bell rang, and you released a breath you didn't know you were holding. "It's Y/N right? I'm Haruhi! We wondered if you wanted to come with us to watch the volleyball team practice!"
"What's so special about the volleyball team?" She looked like you had just shot her point blank.
"Oikawa is on the team that's why! He's so dreamy~" Her gaze shifted to one that wasn't completely there. Honestly why not? New school, new people, new hobbies.
"I guess I'll come with, let me text my mom though." She nodded and gave a thumbs up to the group of girls behind her that you hadn't noticed before. "She says it's fine, she's happy I'm making friends."
"Yay! Let's go to the restroom to make sure we all look okay!" The other girls cheered in agreement and you were pushed into the girls restroom. They spent almost an hour nitpicking over ever detail of their being while you just stood there. "Y/N do you want any makeup?" Haruhi asked, holding out a makeup bag to you.
"I don't wear makeup, but thanks though! You all looked fine before we came in here so I don't know why we spent an hour in here."
"Than- It's been an hour!? We missed the start of practice! Oikawa-san will be so upset!" She grabbed your hand and again you were swept away in the mob of girls.
The gym was decent sized, nothing like the activity centers at your school in America. You and the other sat on the bleachers and watched the boys practice. You were told that Oikawa was the captain and setter, whatever that meant. One after another he tossed the back up for guys to hit, which were called spikers according to Haruhi. After watching for about an hour, loud yelling began behind what seemed to a door to another hallway of the school. You couldn't understand it but it sounded bad. Glancing at your phone you realized you were going to be late if you didn't leave now. "Haru, I have to go! I'll see you tomorrow!" You ran down the bleachers, being louder than you would've liked. You drew the attention of the volleyball team, but you didn't notice. They whispered to each other about your hair, and Kentaro-san's eyes.
The next day was easier, you had made friends in your classes. Haru liked your sarcastic personality and said you were the funniest girl she knew. The final bell rang after what seemed to be an entire two days in class. "Y/N! We need to go to the gym now!" You nodded and moved with your new group of friends to the gym. Your entrance this time was seemingly the most interesting thing to the team. That made you uncomfortable. They're staring at your eyes, how they don't match. You followed Haru and the others up the stairs to the usual spot. You were hidden behind some girls, but your hair made you stand out. You checked your phone for any messages from your friends in America. Nope. Suddenly the girls staring screaming, and you thought you were going to die of a heart attack. Oikawa-san had come over, and he was asking for....you? The girls immediately grew jealous, like really jealous.
"Haru tell him I'm not here!" You whispered, cowering behind one of your new friends.
"What!? He wants to talk to you that's amazing! I'm jealous but it's amazing!" You shook your head no vigorously. "Oikawa-san, she isn't here today.." Haru began. Oikawa raised an eyebrow and smiled.
"I'm not stupid, her hair is obvious. Now come down Rosy~" Oh god a nickname. That would make them jealous. You finally gained the courage to walk down the stairs and up to the oat popular boy in school. "He's mad you know~" He chimed with a smirk. You tilted your head in confusion. "You don't know? Well it's time you had a little talk~" How was he so happy all the time?? He grabbed your arm, making the girls even more jealous of you.
"Where are we going?"
"To meet your soulmate silly~" You stopped dead in your tracks.
"That asshole who made one of my eyes turn piss yellow is here? Oh my god that's hilarious! How's he liking his new eye colors?" You said between gasps of air. Somehow fate had put you two here together, and who were you to deny it?
"Well, liking it isn't the word I would use but you can ask him in person! Iwa-chan has been trying to calm him down for an hour~"
"...Why?" You asked as he pulled you down the hall.
"Because he wants to meet you Rosy! I think he's a little mad too but he is the mad dog..."
"What did you say?"
"Nothing, nothing." He stopped at what seemed to be an empty classroom. You could hear almost animalistic noises
from inside. What the hell? He knocked and it stopped. "I'm coming in, I found her~" Next thing you knew you were staring at a tall, incredibly handsome
boy, with pink and red eyes. You burst into laughter."Oh my god it's better than I thought! This is so freaking funny!" You literally couldn't breathe you were laughing so hard. Unknown to you, Oikawa and the boy, Iwa-chan had left the room, leaving you alone.
"It's not funny." He could talk! His
voice was cute too!"No it is, and your English is really good by the way," you said, finally calmed down, "Its what you get
for giving me one normal eye and one colored like piss.""Well I like it and I'm not changing it, even for you soulmate."
"I have more dye at home! Just tell me the color you'd like next~"
"Normal please."
"No no, mister! What is your name?"
"Call me Kentaro." Cute name too, you were doomed.
"Hi Kentaro, I'm Y/N your soulmate and I'm never having normal hair again!"
