Leading her outside with my hands over her eyes, me behind her as we waddle together. I start to chuckle at how annoyed she is because she's walking slow. "I told you that you don't have to do this every year Sean," Miranda said.
"I know but I wanted to show you what my parents and me have been working on all week," I explained. She sighed and said fine. It has been tradition every Christmas we go to each others house to see the other's decorations and exchange gifts. The frosty grass crunches beneath our shoes as we continuing to waddle. After nine months of being with her, I love surprising her because she gets this fish eyed look when she sees what I do for her.
Like the first time I kissed her on the boat and she was so stunned. I was stunned myself with how I felt, so blinded by this beautiful girl that has stood by me through everything. I even thought that we would act more like lovers than friends but it's more of the former and the latter is just amazing.
"Can you remove your hands from my face now? It's making my eyes sweat," she said as we stopped.
"You're very impatient Mir," letting go of eyes and standing next to her to see her expression. Just like I said: mouth gaping open and close, eyes unblinking to the scenery. Fake snow covered the yard and trees, the snow machine is drizzling them heavily so it could look like a real winter wonderland.
"Wow, so this is the reason why you haven't called me," she said mesmerized, walking toward it to catch some snowflakes in her hand.
"Yeah. Me and Dad had to fix the machine to make it flow like a snowfall, since the weather has been warmer" I explained as I stepped behind her.
"Yeah it has but this is so cool Seany," she told me. Wrapping her arms around her shoulder, laying my chin in it. We stay silent for a minute to enjoy the scenery, the snow feathering our hair and faces as it matches the dark Sky.
"Merry Christmas," I whispered in her war as I pull a small bag from behind me. She grabbed it fast and opened it.
"Aww Sean you didn't have to get me anything," her tone sincere but playful as she jumped eagerly when she pulled out the object, making me shake my head with humor. Revealing a long velvet box, I watch her open it and she smiles at the silver bracelet and Amazon gift card inside. "Yay!" she hugged me tight and even spinning me around, almost making us fall but I hold us up.
"Glad you like it."
"I really do. I don't even want to know how much it cost you."
"Not much actually, I got the last one for cheap."
"Its not fake silver, right? You know I'm allergic to that."
"Uh" I trailed off, earning a glare from her and I just smile saying "kidding." She hits me on the shoulder and laughed with me.
I kissed her cheek and asked "where's my present?"
"I don't even want to give it to you now." She crossed her arms.
"I'm sorry Miranda, will not do it again. Can you give me my present, I've been a good boy. Pleaaaassse?" I pouted to her, she didn't want to give in but she grinned at me.
"You're very lucky you're cute." The bag in her hand is brought to me and I take it from her, pulling a green and black hat.
"I made it myself," She chimed.
"It's great, I love it." Last year she picked up knitting and had a real niche for it.
"You don't like it. I can tell by your face." she said, wanting to grab it but I'm faster then her and put it on my head.
"I said I love it and I'm keeping it forever."
"You're such a child."
"Says the girl who thinks I hate her gift."
"I was joking."
"Suuure."
"Whatever. Check the rest of the bag genius." Listening, I pulled out another item, sticks wrapped in gold. I ripped off the material, revealing a set of red drumsticks with my name engraved. I look to her and she has a cocky expression on her face. "I saw them at the music store and had to get it. You haven't drummed since... Emily."
The mention of my ex doesn't even shake me anymore but her speaking about the love of my craft gives me a little chill. I started drumming just because Emily liked drummers instead of guitarists. Even though I did it to impress her, I still loved it. I played for Miranda once and she was so hyped and proud, saying that I so need to join a band. Her words exactly.
The first week we started dating she wanted me to play for her again but I couldn't bring myself to do it and broke my only set of drumsticks. I chuckled again, no words can escape from my mouth thinking that this gift is just amazing like she is as I just grab her head and kissed her fiercely with passion.
Her hands find my hair, threading it gently as our tongues massage each other. My arms around her waist as I lift her up from her feet to hover the ground. "I love you so much," I murmured into her lips as we catch our breaths.
"I love you so much Sean," she repeated with a smile across her mouth and give her small pecks. "I never would have pegged you for a romantic Seany. I thought you would do something that made you sad like looking through morbid Christmas pics."
"Well that bitter person nine months ago is no more thanks to you."
"I do tend to bring the sunshine to people's lives." She shrugged simply, our foreheads touch, making me kiss her again. No sourness or regrets because this feels perfect right here and now. Sure there were arguments and days ignoring each other but I'm happy I get to do it with my best friend and girlfriend.
"Now to the lovemaking." I picked her up over my shoulder and run toward my house, she's laughing and hits my back playfully.
"We haven't even had sex yet," she said still giggling.
"Yeah what's up with that? I gave you jewelry, I should get laid." I told her jokingly.
"You will, soon."
"When?" I opened the front door, placing her down on the carpeted living room floor and then closing the door behind me. My parents aren't home so we just watch plenty of holidays films until we pass out.
I stare at her and wait for her answer, I'm willing to wait as long as she wants but at least she can give me second base. "Hmmm January." She said simply, making me speechless again.
"Are you sure?" I asked her curiously, she nodded and then sat on the couch.
"Let's watch a Christmas movie." She told me, grabbing the remote as I sat next to her, she still tends to surprise me more than I surprise her.
