A/N: "
I maneuvered Romeo's hands off of my butt and adjusted myself against the sink, "Oh hey India, long time no speak?" I said nervously. I don't know how long she's been in that stall but all I know is that I wanna get out of here as fast as I can.
She looked around, "Well this is a really weird situation to see you again in... how's dance going for you?" I could tell she was trying to change the subject as she slowly walked to the sink adjacent to me.
Romeo took a few steps back and walked out as I pretended to wash my hands, "It's going real good, really good. I just had a little workshop just last week that turned out great. How's your life?" I could she was confused at why I was washing my hands when she was clearly in here the whole time.
"Haha, I should actually ask you how you are doin'... girl now you know I'm not gonna stand here and play dumb like nothing was about to go down five seconds ago..." she stood there shaking her head.
I looked around dumbfounded, "W-what are you talkin' bout?" I kind of made a shy grin trying not to laugh in the moment.
She tapped her foot, "I'm waiting..."
"It's not what it looks like, I swear", said while walking over to the paper towel holder.
"Clearly", she swung her long, black around. She began walking toward the door, "I'll see you later... hopefully not when your almost fucking somebody in a bathroom", she smirked and then left.
I felt sort of relieved, which is weird because you really shouldn't be relieved after being in a situation like this. India was one of the Monroe sisters. There's Kelsi Monroe, Morgan Monroe and the youngest India Dunn Monroe. I've known India since I was little and found out a little bit after that she had two other sisters. I remember when I was younger I used to take dance classes with her and always go to school with her. But things began to get complicated after freshman year. She started to get around and our friendship started to end. She was different and I was too... It just wasn't good all together. Just seeing her tonight was weird too, I wonder who she was with and why she was here.
I take another look into the mirror before walking out of the bathroom. A few people started to look at me as I pushed open the open-close door of the bathroom. All I could see was Romeo sitting there lonely and defeated at the diner. I began to walk over slowly as his head started raise up.
"You ready to go?" He said bluntly.
I went to grab for my wallet when he pushed my hand away,"I already paid for the meal", he said dully and pushed himself up from the booth.
I kinda just stood here dumbfounded for a second. I began to feel my face start to heat up with frustration. The petite girl, who was our waitress, just stood there snickering.
"What the hell are you laughing at?"
She began to stare at me for a few seconds and say,"Your man just left you... again".
"What man?"
Her eyebrow raised,"You mean that's not your man?"
I shook my head, "No".
She flew her hands up and sashayed around the counter and took off her apron,"Well shit, what am I doing here?"
"Ahem, m'dear you won't be going anywhere. Go back to work and leave this young girl and her boyfriend alone", she gave me a reassuring look while I turned around and disappeared onto the sidewalk.
The brisk air pinched my skin, while i began to walk down the eery streets of New York. I wonder where Romeo is? It would be wrong of him to just leave me out here wandering the streets of New York. Or maybe I should just text Jacob to come and pick me up.
Kaelynn: hey, uh... babe? can you pick me up? i'm srry its so late but i kinda need a ride
I began to walk closer to the street light that started to illuminate the street corner. I started to walk a few more feet when my phone started to vibrate.
Jacob: yeah... where are you?
--
Kaelynn: I'm on the corner of center dr. and forefield right down the street from danny's dinner.
---
Jacob: i'll be there in like... fifteen/twenty min
--
Kaelynn: kk. thanks babe
My mind started to fade... My day has not been the absolute best. I'm stuck here miserable just walking up and down the same sidewalk waiting for Jacob to come. Who knows where little Romeo escaped to, probably home. The cold air whipped against my cheek a little bit harder. I began to walk once more over next to a garbage dump. The streets filled with debris flowing around the street corners. Streets lights continuously blinking, empty lots and apartment buildings. All that echoed in my head was the sound of my heels clicking against the pavement. I don't know how long I've been walking or what time it is. Romeo's gone... Jacob taking his sweet time from wherever he's coming from. This night could've gotten better...
Kelsi's POV
Minutes turned into hours and those hours began to turn into days. I continue to sit numbly in the same seat day by day wondering how this could all happen so fast. One day he's here and the next he's gone and back again. Our baby Cameron Jordan August was born that night, can't remember much of anything now that I think of it. He's still not home yet from the hospital since he's premature, but hopefully in a few more weeks he can come home. As I look around once more, the boredom began to creep up once more. Counting the shelves and how many white tiles on the floor wasn't working anymore. There's wires still hooked to the machines that he had been connected up to before. Too many things have been happening in the past few days. I've been sitting in this same spot for about three or four days now. I've lost track of time. My mom keeps visiting me once and a while giving me an update on how Cameron had been coping for far in the hospital. Chres hasn't spoke or moved since he woke up. The doctors had to put him into a coma, in order for his body to heal properly. I touch his arm, remembering how he used to pick me up and throw me around back home. Every touch seems to bring a memory of us... my face begins to well up with tears. I sat here for hours thinking of scenarios of how this all could've been prevented... but I couldn't wrap my head around him actually being gone... forever. I couldn't imagine someone so close to me being gone in a blink of an eye... didn't seem logical to me. How can you fall in love with someone and have them taken away from your life so fast? Is this what's suppose to happen to all of us? We love and we lost. for as long as we live, we will never get what we want. We all go through life, taking every precious thing for granted. We all believe we will live forever, and we won't. There's no second chances to our lives, but somehow Chres received his second chance. God could've just taken his life and used him up in heaven, but he didn't. He sent him back and I could not be anymore grateful. I said so many selfish prayers wishing it was me instead of him and just wanting him to come back to his son and I. I just wanted my life back... and he was my life. My everything. Just looking at him still looking a bit lifeless, breaks my heart. Not even being able to speak to him or tell him how much I love him... I say a few words but its not like he can hear me anyway. I'm speaking to just the four walls around us... and they're not saying anything at all. I could hear a few more footsteps come into the door.
"Uh, are you Ms. Monroe?" A small voice from behind me asked.
I turn around,"Yes... this is she. Is there a problem?"
"A minor issue involving your son, Cameron August", a burst of panic shock within my body. Today was not my day...
