Chapter 8
Sequoias p.o.v.
I awoke to quiet whispers. I lifted my head up and saw my uncle and aunt. They stopped whispering when they saw me.
"What happened? The last thing I remember was a sharp pain." They looked at each other. Randy whispered something in Cynthia's ear, she smiled and nodded.
"We need to talk. When I tell you, you need to keep an open mind." Cynthia said. I nodded.
"You're mother, she wasn't what most people would call normal. Um, there are creatures among us. Some look different and some are good others are bad. It's easy to tell the difference but hard to tell good from bad." Randy said.
"I already know about werewolfs or 'shifters'." They had shocked looks on there faces. "Chalice, Zade, and father are all shifters." They looked even more surprised. "I know all about shifters. Am I one?"
"No, you're more complex then shifters. Ahh look Randy!" Cynthia said pointing to my arm. I looked at it and black liquid started to appear.
"What's happening!?" I was yelling and completely freaked out.
"It's your mark deer. It's like a tattoo. This mark is very important, it decides your ranking. Your mother was the 2nd in command. Whatever mark appears on your arm is your ranking. Only mystical creatures can see the mark." Cynthia said.
"So what am I then?"
"You're a celestial being." Randy said simply. I always love how he just gets to the point. Sometimes. Like one time my gold fish died and he just said 'he's dead get over it.' Yeah that wasn't fun since I was only 10.
"So like an angel?"
"Kind of but no. An angel is a servant to god. You could end up evil or good depending on the mark." Randy said.
"The mark? The stupid mark isn't going to control my decision. I have free will."
"I understand but you won't know what you're doing. You could have dark magic. It's not your choice." Said Cynthia.
"Bull shit." Cynthia's face fell when I cursed. She knew I cursed but she didn't like it. "Anyways. Are there more creatures like vampires and witches? Because I feel like I'm in the freakin vampire diaries."
"Yes." Randy said.
"Are you serious!?"
"No, just wanted to see you freak out." Randy laughed. I gave him a 'are you kidding me' look. He put his hands up in surrender. This was not the time to play around.
"So am I, um, gonna grow wings? If I do will they stay there forever or are they foldable?" I don't understand this madness.
"Yes you'll grow wings. They'll stay out for about a week just to, you know, break in and then they'll come out whenever you want. The first couple times the wings come out it will hurt but it will get easier. Every celestial creature gets gifts or powers as well. You're mom could read minds."
"And why didn't you tell me about this? Why did you wait until I fainted?" I could have prepared myself for this.
"There are rules. We cannot tell you until it starts. Why? I don't know. It's just the way things are. Your grandmother is also one. If you'd like you can meet her."
"Meet one of the people who disowned me? No thanks." Everyone disowned me when my father went to prison. They said they didn't want to be put in the news and made out to be crazy. The only ones who stuck by me were Chalice, aunt Cynthia and uncle Randy.
