Jude spent the entire day on edge, waiting for the group of boys to approach him and give him a new set of bruises.
He could not focus first period due to the eyes of Jack burning into the back of his head. It took all of Jude's strength not to turn around, but the idea of making eye contact with the other boy when he was in such an angry state was enough to convince him to remain facing forward.
When the bell rang to signal the end of first period, Jude rushed out of the door quickly, grabbing his bag and throwing it over his shoulder.
He began to speed walk while glancing over his shoulder constantly.
He turned the corner, while looking behind himself at someone he thought looked a lot like Jack, when suddenly he slammed right into someone's chest.
He let out a squeak as he squeezed his eyes shut.
He waited for the impact of his back connecting with the floor, however it never came.
After a few seconds he opened one eye slowly only to be met by the face of his amused boyfriend. Connor was gripping his biceps tightly in his hands, keeping him from falling.
"Hey, Jude." He smirked at Jude before he slowly lifted him into a standing option so his feet were flat on the floor.
Jude blushed brightly in embarrassment. "Hey, Connor."
Jude gripped the sleeves of his back pack as he watched Connor lean against the lockers.
"You okay there? You look a little jumpy?" Connor raised an eyebrow, looking concerned.
"Yeah." Jude chuckled nervously, glancing behind himself a few times. "Just a bit nervous."
"What for?" Connor asked with a concerned look.
Jude shook his head, not wanting to worry the other boy. "Just a- um - a test fourth period."
"We have a test fourth period?" Connor's eyes widened. He didn't know that they had a math test. He was totally unprepared.
shit Jude thought as he remembered that he and Connor had fourth period together.
"N-no." Jude yelped. "I meant fifth period." He sent Connor a fake smile of reassurance.
Connor paused before a smile formed on his face. His pale complexion due to stress and worry, filled with color once again. "Thank god." He sighed.
Jude nodded slowly.
"Look, I gotta go." Connor smiled. "But I'll talk to you later."
Connor leaned down toward Jude's lips only for him to jerk his head to the side suddenly forcing his lips to land on his cheek.
He pulled away with a confused expression, but Jude simply smiled and pushed past him.
He couldn't believe he just lied to Connor again.
He hated the guilt that seemed to weigh him down. But, yet, the idea of Connor being hurt made his lies (almost) seem worth while.
He shoved through the crowded hallway, trying to reach his next period quickly. He was shoved a few times, but continued on his way.
As he turned the corner he felt a hand squeeze his shoulder tightly. The persons nails dug into the material of his shirt and into his skin as they gripped it.
Jude flinched at the feeling, but tried to push forward. He felt their grip tighten before they roughly turned him around.
Jude made eye contact with the cold grey-blue eyes of Jack and flinched once again. The two seemed to just stare at eachother for a short while. Neither doing much of anything.
Jude waiting for Jack to take the first shot.
Jack waiting for his hands to do so.
The sound of the first bell ringing sounded through the near vacant hallways.
Jude groaned internally as he realized he would soon be marked late.
"Can you just punch me and get it over with so I can get to class on time?" Jude plucked up the courage to spit at the other boy.
He saw the boy freeze for a moment, as if shocked that Jude had asked something like that. Then he opened his mouth to speak, only to close it.
He then removed his hand from Jude's shoulder and took a slow step back.
Jude watched the other boy in confusion.
Is he seriously not going to beat me up? He asked himself.
Jack slowly turned around and began to walk back down the hallway at a slow pace.
Jude watched in confusion before he took a tentative step backwards and turned around to retreat to his class.
He felt himself begin to smile as he thought he would be getting off without a beating, however, he suddenly felt the same hand grip his shoulder once more.
Jack turned him around quickly before swiftly punching him in the stomach with a smirk.
"How's that for getting it done quickly?" He paused. "That fast enough for you, Jude?"
Jude doubled over in pain as he gripped his stomach. He wheezed silently as he tried to get air into his lungs after it had been knocked out of him.
Jack slowly leaned down to place his mouth next to Jude's ear. "And don't ever talk to me like that again," he winked, "that clear, fucker?"
He pulled away and turned to walk down the hallway, leaving a breathless Jude behind him.
