"Sometimes unexpected things happen to extraordinary people."

I looked up into the night sky. The stars painting a landscape of possibilities above me. The cold crisp air stung my exposed skin sending shivers through my upright body. The events that had happened earlier were constantly repeating in my mind. My thoughts were interrupted my the sound of my name.

"Gaby?"

I shifted my head towards the voice. He was climbing up onto the roof where I was. His floppy multicolored hat on his head making him look like a complete dork. He was on the top branch of the tree about to lift himself onto the roof when I heard a faint snap.

"Damn it!" He yelled as I heard a thud. I started laughing uncontrollably. I then looked down and saw him sitting on my lawn.

"You okay there, Matt?"

"Do you think that butts can break?" He responded making me chuckle.

"I don't think so." I said to him trying to contain my laughter.

"Give me one second." He responded. He then climbed back up the tree and safely made it up to the roof where I was. He sat in a position where our arms were touching sending warmth through my body.

"So Gaby baby, how are ya?" He asked.

"Not well. How about you?"

"What happened? Don't tell me Jared did something bad. If he did I will punch his teeth in. He will never hurt you, I promise you."

"Hold your horses there, floppy. He broke up with me, that's all. He said there was someone else." I took a deep breath in and out to keep me from staining my cheeks in tears. There was no way I was going to start sobbing again. He rested his hand on my thigh, calming me.

"That son of a bitch. Who was the other person?" I sighed knowing that he was going to be furious with my answer.

"Regina."

"No, there is no way she would cheat on me! We've been together for five months! This can't be happening, I can't believe this!" The words sounding angrier as he progressed.

"It's going to be okay, I promise." I reassured him.

"At least we have each other."

"Right, at least we have each other." I sighed knowing it was getting late. I was about to jump down from the roof to go back into my house when I heard Matt's voice.

"Please stay here with me. We can watch the sunrise together, please. I don't want to be alone." He said rather shakily as tears cascaded down his cheeks.

"Alright."

"I'm kinda cold too so you wouldn't mind if we cuddled?"

"Of course I don't mind. Come here." I told him as a small grin appeared on my face.

He laid down on the roof as I walked over to him. I laid next to him completely overwhelmed in his warmth. My eyelids started to feel heavy as the words fell out of my mouth.

"Night, Matt."

"Night cutie." He said as he kissed my cheek.
