His lush brown hair fell into his blue-green eyes. That goofy smile on his face would make anyone grin. If only I could touch that perfect face. I would-
"Amy! Amy are you coming down for breakfast?!" I sighed and closed my leather bound book. I didn't want to let it out of my arms but I reluctantly placed it on my bed and descended the stairs.
"Still got your nose in that book, eh? You'll ruin your eyes." My mother pointed her plastic spatula at me with sarcasm.
"You, mother, are the one who got me that book." Picking up a couple golden brown pancakes and stabbing a fork into their deliciousness.
"Well." Stopping the fire under the pan."I'm glad you like it. It's been in our closet for years but it's never appealed to me."
I gazed off in the distance, day dreaming about my new book. The main character, Jack, was just so handsome and sweet. No one was quite like Jack, well, he wasn't real. I felt a hard knuckle on my head and looked to my left.
"Stop day dreaming, stupid, or you'll be late for your first day of senior year." My older brother kept his knuckle digging into my head until I moved. I left my half eaten breakfast and rushed upstairs. I packed my bag of all the essentials, so pretty much a spiral and a pencil. Plucking my phone off the charger and sticking into my shorts pocket, I glanced at my bed. The red leather stuck out on top of the soft blue sheets, it looked old and unloved. It would just be damaged if I took it to school.

The parking lot was packed as always, I was already dreading coming to this hell of a place. I hated almost everyone here, a bunch of preppy jerks and drug addicts. A familiar figure was coming toward me at a running pace though. I braced for impact.
"AAAMMY!" Melody threw herself at me, almost causing me to fall on my ass. I laughed as I tried to steady us both. Melody's long black hair got caught on my bag and had to be untangled.
"Melody, you saw me yesterday." Straightening my shirt.
"I know..but we're seniors now! It had to be commemorated!" Smiling at me innocently, I swear this girl seemed seven at times.
A hand grabbed me by the shoulder and spun me around and a hand came up to cup my chin.
"Why if it isn't the lovely Amy. This is the year, the year you're going to fall for me." He came closer as if to kiss me. I quickly stepped to the side and may or may not have pushed him to fall flat on his face.
"You'll never learn, Roy." Laughing as he rubbed his head, but the three of us knew the only thing hurt was his ego.
He was up in an instant, twirling Melody with one arm. "And it is a pleasure to see my Melody as well." Roy stood above us about a foot, making him probably 6'2. He had the same blond hair as me but very determined auburn eyes. Melody giggled as always when being flattered by Roy, I swear they should just go out, but Roy is so set on being in love with me. He is handsome, just not my type.
He walked in between us, a hand on our shoulders as we all walked into the school. Melody was chatting with Roy about her summer and all the places she's been. Roy laughed but didn't really tell us much. I suspect he didn't have any adventures to tell about.
"Let's look at our classes." Melody suddenly spoke, stopping in the middle of the hallway. We all pulled out our schedules and compared loudly.
"Oh look, Amy. We have four classes together." Roy moved a couple blond hairs from his face and smiled brightly.
"Oh joy." Not really looking at him.
"Amy, I think we have these three together, and probably lunch!" Melody sounded excited, but then again she got excited over anything.
"Hey I've got that class too, looks like we can all go out at lunch together." Roy interjected.
"Yeah, that'll be really nice." Melody smiled up at Roy, who did the same.
They both took me by the arm and pulled me to homeroom. Roy waved goodbye, winking in our direction and jogged up the stairs. Melody and I entered our homeroom. We said hello to all our friends we haven't seen since last spring and quickly got to our seats when the bell rang. A plump elderly teacher walked into the room and waddled to his desk. He started taking role, calling all of our names and just as he was finished a boy rushed into the classroom, looking a bit flustered.
"Ah, you must be Mr. Williams. Late on the first day I see." He scribbled in his notebook while Williams stood awkwardly in front of the class, he was looking down so we couldn't see his eyes through his brown hair.
"Well well. Looks like the only seat is next to Miss Carter. Miss Carter, please try not to harass this new student will you?" I rolled my eyes as a couple preps around me giggled, then turned their eyes to "Mr. Williams" They were all gawking at him, as girls do. Boys are just prey to them, toys even. I hardly glanced at him when he sat next to me, if those bitches were into him, then I wasn't.
-----
I played with Roy's fuzzy dice as we drove around looking for a quick place to eat for lunch. Melody was looking dramatically out the window and Roy was mostly focused on driving.
"So...where do you guys want to eat?" Stopping to look at my two friends.
"There's nothing really close." Roy said looking at the road.
"What about Chick fil a?" Melody asked, turning her heart shaped face to us.
"That sounds good to me."
"sigh. Whatever my ladies want, they will get." Roy spoke in his usual lovey way that we've been come accustom too since middle school. At first I thought he was a ladies man, but he never talked to other girls like he does to us.
We pulled into the parking lot and entered the building. As I thought not a ton of people decided to have their lunch here. I ordered and let the other two decide, claiming a booth to the side for us. I waited for them, and my food, when I heard this annoying high pitched giggle. I turned and two obnoxious girls were clinging to that new kid, Williams. At the sight of me the two giggling idiots sneered at me, obviously claiming Mr. Williams as their own. New kid on the other hand had the most scared look on his face that I've ever seen on a boy. I actually felt sorry for him.
I got up, not really knowing what I was going to do. "Oh Williams, there you are. Your boyfriend is so worried about you."
The two girls gasped and instantly let go of him, slowly sinking away muttering horrors about the gay people. He was getting up when Roy popped up behind him.
"Hello my love, for a minute I thought you had gone straight on me." He wrapped his arms around Williams neck, which kind of freaked everyone out, and pulled him toward our booth. The two girls who were originally sooo in love with him were sulking out of the restaurant, probably never going to speak that they were hitting on a gay guy.
"Thanks, I think. Those idiots would just not leave me alone." He sat down next to me, trying his best not to be with "his boyfriend."
"They're air heads, they'll probably forget all about it when they get back to school. The brains of goldfish." Taking a bite out of a fry.
"And if they don't?" Looking at me with confused blue eyes.
"Then you can have Roy." Laughing and glancing at him, who was now choking on his sandwich.
"I never caught your name." Melody spoke through her drink.
"Ryan Williams." Well I could see why those girls were hitting on him, he was pretty cute.
"Eat fast, ten minutes and counting." Melody tried to yell through her sandwich. The girl really never learned not to talk with her mouth full. We all scarfed down our food, ran to our cars and left for the second half of the day.
