Deans P.O.V.
When I got back from the bar, at I don't know what time, Sam was fast asleep and Castiel was watching some kind of bad soap opera that was on late. Or early? Like I said, I didn't now what time I got back but I know i did at some point. Sam moved slightly in his sleep as I closed the door but after that he was still again. The only noise was coming from the bad soap opera and the occasional laughter from the audience could be heard.
I cleared my throat to announce that I had arrived back and Castiel looked around, over the top of the old armchair that the motel had provided. We made eye contact for about ten seconds then as he was about to say something I walked away into the motel kitchen, grabbed a soda and went and joined him in the other armchair, next to his. We sat in silence for a few minutes, the only noise being Sam's occasional snores and the soft drone from the television set.
Then, a soft voice emerged from the background noise,
'Dean?'
I looked to the right to see Castiel staring at me.
'What?' I said before turning back to the set.
'Why didn't you believe me when I told you that I was an angel?'
Shit. What the hell do I say to this? Do I tell him the truth or do I make up some shitty little lie to hide the truth?
'Don't lie to me Dean. If you're lying I will know.'
Shit.
Is 'knowing when someones lying' an angel power or something? Seriously?!
'Look Cas, I, um..' I sighed, 'I didn't believe you because there was nothing in Dads journal about angels. Like nothing at all. My dad knew every monster! He wrote it all down! But I guess he didn't know everything did he...'
It was kind of sad to think about it. Dad has only been dead two years so it was kind of a sensitive subject. In fact I hadn't spoken about him since his death. Sam never wanted to talk about it and, well, Bobby wasn't the most talkative when it came down to dad. However for some reason I felt able to tell this....guy... about how I felt. And I..I felt okay about it.
'Thank you Dean.' said the angel.
I snapped back into reality but was only able to push out a mumbled response:
'Uh what? Thanks for what?'
He turned to me.
'For telling the truth of course.'
'Uh sure' I said, 'It was no problem'
His eyes stared deep into mine, making me feel almost uneasy.
'I know that it's a sensitive subject Dean. your dad I mean.'
I had to look away but I could still feel his eyes burning into the side of my head.
'I think that the way a human comforts another is with a hug-am I right?'
'Uh yeah sure Cas I guess.' I replied, looking back at him, 'Why?'
He got up and he.. hugged me....and...I let him.
It was so nice that I even let a single tear fall slowly out of my eye. I sniffled and wiped my nose. I went to let go but Cas was still hugging me.
'Uh Cas?'
'Yes Dean?'
'You can let go now.'
'Oh. Right. I'm new to this. Sorry.'
He let go, and I almost wished that he had'nt.
