The King paces back and forth in my quarters in a fit of rage. "Cardinal Wolsey will not do as I demand!"
I sit in a chair, watching him. "Your Majesty, the annulment will take place soon."
"I HAVE BEEN ASKING HIM FOR MONTHS TO ANNUL MY MARRIAGE TO KATHERINE. HE PROMISED ME A DIVORCE BY SUMMER! BUT HE STILL DID NOT DO AS I DEMAND!"
I sighed. "Your Majesty, promises are easy."
He stops pacing and runs up to me, holding my hands in his. "Anne, let us get married!"
I was confused. "What?"
"Let us get married! I am tired of waiting for Cardinal Wolsey to annul my marriage. We can get married in secret, just you and me. A priest can conduct the ceremony."
"But your Majesty, I--"
"What do you say, Anne? Will you marry me?"
I sighed and smiled. "Yes."
He grins. "Good! We will get married the night of tomorrow in my bedchambers!"
"T-tomorrow....?"
"Yes, tomorrow. I will have a wedding dress made for you."
The next morning, the King sends a wedding dress to my bedchamber right when I woke up. It was beautiful. A French dress, flowing after reaching the bottom of my bosom, made of white satin and lace flowers laying over it, appearing like a garden of white flowers.
The King knocks on the door.
"Come in."
He walks in, smiling brighter than the sun. "What do you think? Do you like it?"
"Yes, it is very beautiful. Thank you so much, your Majesty."
"I am glad you like it. I hired the best seamstress in England, and payed her a lot in order for her to finish her work quickly. It seems it payed off well. I shall see you tonight at 8 in my bedchamber. Farewell, sweetheart."
Evening came quickly and my personal attendant helped me put on my wedding dress. I smoothed the skirt down. "It really is beautiful....."
My personal attendant escorted me to his bedchamber, making sure no one saw me in this dress. She closes the doors and leave. The King and priest were waiting for me. When they saw me, their jaws dropped and their eyes were wide.
"Anne....."
I smiled. "Yes, your Majesty?"
"You look beautiful."
"Thank you, your Majesty."
It was a quick ceremony, just the priest doing his task and the King and I saying our vows. We were now officially married, though no one will know until my coronation.
