Chapter Ten: Stuck On Repeat
I woke up to a blinding light and rolled away from it. I heard voices again, but this time they weren't the kind words of my parents but familiar voices of my friends.
"I told you to let her sleep."
"But I miss her and she has been sleeping forever," Cane whined. I smiled at his silliness.
"Fine, I'm up. I'm up," I said, sitting up and wiping at my eyes.
"Oh honey, you have tear tracks all down your face," Brandon said, frowning.
"I was dreaming about my mom and dad," I said.
"Oh buttercup!" Cane was on me in the next second, hugging the life out of me.
"Ow, ow, ow," I said, as he put pressure on my side.
"Oh, I'm so sorry! Did I break you," he asked, checking me for any damage.
"No, just put too much weight on my side. You were squeezing me pretty hard," I corrected myself when Cane gave me a hard look at the word 'weight.'
"Well, sorry, love," he said, pulling away. My phone rang as I shook my head at my friend. I answered the phone and signaled for the duo to keep quiet.
"Hello," I answered the unknown number.
"Where are you," Lucca asked me. "I'm here to work on your list and you aren't."
"I told you I didn't want your help with my list, Lucca. What does it matter where I am?"
"Well, I happened to ask Chase where you are and he doesn't seem to have a clue either. He is looking a bit worse for wear though," Lucca stated.
"Well, he deserves it. Did you ever stop to think that I go out of my way to make sure Chase doesn't know what I'm up to," I asked him.
"Funny thing that. One of the maids told me that you passed out when you got home the other day. Said they rushed you to the emergency room," he informed me.
"Well, I'm all better now and um, Cane and Brandon took me out for breakfast," I told him, pulling an excuse out of nowhere.
"Well, okay, if that is what you're doing, that's fine. I'll be by later to pick you up," he told me, before he hung up. He hadn't sounded even slightly convinced by my white lie. I groaned and hit my head repeatedly with my phone. Antony called me about thirty minutes later and I sighed answering it with a tight smile on my face.
"Hey, what's up," I answered.
"I would come and visit you but a certain person seems to be onto me and I have no doubt he would follow me to the place that you are at," he whispered to me.
"It's alright. Cane and Brandon are keeping me company and I know about Lucca. He called me looking for me. I have to go. They are going to take me to get operated on. Bye, Antony." I stuck my tongue out at the nurse, who had been reprimanding me for my constant use of my cell phone. She was glaring at me as I handed my phone over to Cane; I knew I could trust him with it. I was wheeled into the operating room and told to count down from some number when they put the mask over my face. Then I was out.
~~~~~~~
I awoke to a fog horn blaring in my room. I put my hands to my ears and glared at the intruder. I nearly gasped at the sight of him but I didn't. The naggy nurse from before came in and glared at Lucca and told him to keep it down. I sat up and popped my neck, noticing I had a crick in it from sleeping oddly.
"What the hell are you doing here," I asked him.
"Funny, this doesn't look like your bedroom. You don't even seem like your all better, isn't that what you said?"
