*Ashton's POV*

It was the first day of school and I wasn't ready at all. I honestly hated school. Always have, always will. The only thing that made school better was that I had my friends. I was going to meet up with them at the school entrance. I just really hoped I had classes with them. Otherwise, I would be back to my old self. That old self I didn't want to live again. When I met Luke and soon after Michael and Calum, they helped me get out of my shell. I always was that quiet kid. It's just something I knew how to do. I was only loud when I was at home playing on my drums in the garage.

I heard my alarm ring and I pressed it off before I could hear the noise again. I hated the noise, but my mom told me when I got to high school that she was no longer getting me up. I was a big kid now, that is what she said. My little sister was starting 7th grade today and my little brother was starting 5th grade. However, I was starting another nightmare. Junior year of high school. Could it get any worse.

I hopped out of bed and I headed for my drawers. I pulled out one of my band t-shirts. I didn't give a shit what I looked like on the first day. Girls always made a huge deal what they looked like on the first day. I just wanted to wear what made me feel comfortable.

Before I could put on my shirt, my phone was ringing. I walked over to pick it up and it was Luke. I was surprised he was up already. I remembered though. Michael was always the one that was late to school. He was late to school over 20 times and had a lot of detentions. He also didn't care much for school. I was surprised that Luke actually cared about school. He was quite smart actually.

"Good morning Ash," He says and his voice sounded quite raspy. It was his morning voice I suppose. I tried to not laugh.

"Good morning Lukey," I say and I put my phone on speaker and I took off my pajamas shirt and put on my band shirt. I grabbed jeans in my drawer and I took off my pajamas bottoms and put on the jeans.

"I'm actually not looking forward to this year," I walked over to the phone and I couldn't believe what he was saying. He was always looking forward to school.

"Why do you say that, Luke?" I asked him, turning off speaker to just talk to him normally.

"I don't know. You know junior year is when you start looking for colleges and that stuff scares me," He says.

"But you talked about how much you want to go to that college. You know that one. I'm still over here and not understanding what college is," I laugh, but Luke didn't take it as a joke. He was quite serious.

"We're different when it comes to school, Ashy. I literally had to tutor you in math last year so you weren't fail your ass," Luke said, smirking.

"Because you're smart as shit," I laugh, putting on my socks.

"Yeah, well, I can't help you out of everything though. You have to learn someday," He says and there was a silence on the phone for a while.

"Luke? Luke? Are you there?" I asked and then was still no answer.

"Sorry, I was just thinking. I should probably go anyway. I'll see you at school. Are you bringing your new car to school that you got for your birthday?" Luke asked.

"Yeah if my mom lets me use it," I sigh.

"Tell her that you deserve to use it," He says. "Anyway, I'll see you. I love you Ash, you know as a best friend."

"I love you too, dork. See you soon. Goodbye," I say, smiling.

"Goodbye," He says and then he hangs up.

I turned off my phone and I put on my vans and brushed my hair quickly. Before I could pick up my backpack, my mom opened up the door.

"Do you know how to knock? I could be naked in here," I say, totally shocked to see her.
