It was Christmas Eve in Hogwarts and all the children were so excited for the next day... James and the rest of the marauders were especially excited... they had recently found out about moony and were secretly learning how to be animagi. James had gotten himself, Wormtail, and padfoot book on how to be animagi. he had also gotten lily Evans a locket necklace with an eagle for ravenclaw on one side of it and a lion for gryffindor on the other side with a note asking her out. He put the books under the tree for the others with moony's present which was another one of those books so he could help them. he then found one of lily's friends and have the present to them to put under the tree for her.
The next day
Lily woke up on Christmas morning with the other girls already tearing through the presents. She saw the presents for her and carefully pulled them out from under the tree trying not to be killed by the others. She got them out and put them on her bed. She unwrapped them largest to smallest and very quickly she got to the smallest and opened it. Lily did not notice the card at first and saw the necklace she then noticed the card and read through it. It was from that rude kid James! She hated him! She through out the locket and wrote him a letter back saying:
Dear James,
Merry Christmas. I am sorry but I decline you asking me out. No I will not go out with you. You are a rude selfless child and I want no part of you. The necklace was very nice so thank you for that.
Merry Christmas, . Lily Evans.
She gave the letter to James while on her way out to breakfast he read it and nearly burst out in tears. Sirius came up behind him and read it and merely said "well, Merry Christmas man."
