MAYA
" They're here!" Katy announced throughout the house at the sound of their doorbell ringing.
We all assembled in the greeting room where the hallway led to our living room. I flattened out my dress with my hands and tucked a strand of hair behind my ears, making my up-do as perfect as possible.
I looked to my left, Coen. I had to look up at him despite me being the oldest. He was 6'0 while I was 5'3. Curses for inheriting my mother's height. He had a suit on which made him look 24 with the mind of a 15-year-old. He had gelled his platinum-dyed hair to the side, making him look perfect. Almost as perfect as a doll may I add.
As I looked to my right, Kyan. The father that I despised with my whole life. An abuser, a cheater and the worst husband and father of mankind. Katy was more of a father to me than the beast that stood by me. With the money I have been blessed with, I use it for makeup to cover up scars and bruises he left me as a child. He, too, had a suit on which made him mature.
But me, knowing him deep, knew that the suit was a mask to hide the beast from hurting us. I let out a sigh as I faced the front, placing my hands together to the front to maintain a perfect image I was meant to have.
" Alright, smile like the perfect people you were meant to be!" Katy beamed.
I noticed the slight glare she gave Kyan as she said those words. I knew she purposely gave him that glare so that he would put up a good image in our family.
Coen and I smiled, knowing deep down, none of us wanted this.
Katy nodded as she opened the door, greeting the family outside. Once she stepped back, joining the boys, it was my turn.
" Hello Matthews, welcome to Vedain Ville," I smiled as brightly as I could, not showing any hint of sarcasm, " I am sure that you will love this place. I am Maya Devonne, and us Devonnes would be glad to invite you in for dinner," I stepped aside, letting them in.
I took notice of the Matthews family. They had two children, a girl and a boy. Expected. They were all taller than me, despite the girl who wore flats while I wore stilettos.
She looked, sweet. With her jawline and caring smile, she sure can catch my brother's heart with a short glance.
I looked over my shoulder, Coen was already falling for her. I smirked at the thought of him chasing after her and throwing a tantrum days after she rejects him. Same scenario with other women.
I turned back around, accidentally colliding with a hard pole. Except it felt similar to flesh. I looked up, admiring the beauty that stood in front of me.
He had green eyes and dirty blonde hair. I suppose he got those from his mother from my previous observations.
We stared at each other in awe until he broke it with a cough.
" Sorry, Maya," he apologized as he kept continued walking alongside his family.
I turned my body as I closed the door behind me, staring at him. Coen seemed to notice my affection as he nudged me in the side, resulting me to slap his back.
This was going to be quite a dinner.
