THIRD PERSON'S VIEW
The unsatisfied blonde parked his car in the driveway and took out his keys. He sat in there for a good five minutes contemplating whether or not he should climb into his room and risk getting caught or just take the punishment. He decided to take the heat as he got out of the car, cursing himself for sneaking out.
While dragging his feet to the door, he braced himself for the scowls and arguments that were waiting for him on the other side of that door. His hand went around the doorknob and pushed it open, seeing his family in the dining room. He slammed the door behind him, getting everyone's attention.
" Lucas," Cory called out to him.
The boy looked away as he pursed his lips, starting to get annoyed with everyone, even though he had just walked in and only one person had only said something.
" What," he slurred out.
Immediately, the long-haired woman stood up from her chair and rushed over to him, grabbing his face in her hands while she examined his face. Her eyes went up and down his body to see if anything was wrong, hoping that her assumption was false. Despite the obvious clues that admitted it, especially his breath.
" Lucas, tell me you didn't-," Topanga was cut off.
" Go to a bar? I did. There was too much on my mind, okay? I just had a few drinks but I got carried away. Sorry," he explained.
" But Lucas. A bar?" the brunette stood up from her chair, unconvinced with his apology.
By then, he was irritated as he rolled his eyes at his little sister and turned back to his mother.
" Whatever. I'm going up," he bit out, stammering and slurring at the same time.
Topanga wiped her eyes and turned around, walking back towards Cory and Riley, who were watching him with pure disgust. Lucas shook his head at their pathetic act as he tripped going up the stairs.
Just as the boy disappeared from sight, Cory let out a sigh as he shook his head in disbelief.
" Why is he suddenly like this again?" Topanga asked in worry.
" Don't you think it's weird how he's disturbed by something so deeply despite the fact we've been here for a few days?" Riley asked, worried for her brother.
As the parents looked at each other in confusion, the daughter rolled her eyes at the fact that they were completely oblivious to the situation.
" Something is obviously bothering Lucas. Whenever something is affecting him, he becomes a, how do I say this, a crybaby," she explained, receiving nods from her parents.
However, Topanga realized something that was off.
" But the question is, what is bothering him?" she pointed out, making everyone around the table furrow their eyebrows.
They had only been here for a few days and have only met limited people. Was it the sudden change of life? Or someone?
What the Matthews didn't know was that Lucas never went up to his room. Knowing that his family would discuss his sudden change of behavior, he stayed behind a wall to listen to their assumptions. He shook his head at his family as he got upstairs.
Once he got into his room, he went to the mirror and stared at himself for a few seconds.
" You're Lucas Friar. A Friar. Not a Matthews,"
