Chris unlocked his front door, swinging it open for Scott.
"Wow," Scott said. "Impressive."
"I know," Chris grinned, swaggering in after Scott. "Pretty good for 25, amiright?"
"You kidding me?" Scott asked, looking around at the large living room, complete with fireplace and dark, polished wood walls. "You could buy my place 3 times over with half the money from selling it."
"Mhm~" Chris said, closing the door behind them. "Sit down, please," he said, gesturing to the couch.
Scott sat down. Chris went out to the kitchen to get them both a drink and walked back in, setting them down on the coffee table.
"So tell me something..." Chris said, examining his watch. "You and Vincent were close, right?"
Scott frowned slightly, picking up his drink and taking a sip, "Um... Yeah? So?"
"You described it as brothers," he said. "Wouldn't lovers be more accurate?" He snapped his blue eyes up to look at Scott.
Scott blinked, "What, Vincent and I? In love? No...?"
"It's okay," Chris said. "I'm not going to go all against you for being gay..."
Something in Chris' voice was giving Scott the shivers. He stood up. "Look, Chris, Vincent and I were never in a relationship..."
"Fine. Keep denying it," Chris said. "But you know, Vincent's dead. And you're getting older. And right now, you might have to take whatever you can get."
Scott stared at him, "Chris. You're... Not saying what I think you're saying...?"
"Let me spell it out for you," Chris suddenly shoved him back, pressing him up against a wall.
"Chris," Scott said, his voice stern. "What are you doing?"
"You'd be surprised," Chris said, his voice barely a whisper, and he leaned closer, "by how many people around here..." He leaned even closer and Scott squirmed, "...share your dilemma..."
Scott seemed to find his sense and shoved Chris away. Hard. "Chris, I'm sorry, you're a cool kid, but I'm not attracted to you like that."
Chris stumbled back and glared at him. "Yeah? Well I'm 'attracted to you like that', and I'm not just going to give you up without a fight!"
"What about Dan?" Scott asked.
"What about him?" Chris asked. "Sure, he's a really good person, but I've only known him for one night. You, I've known for almost 5 years. Surely you feel something for me!"
"I... I'm sorry, Chris. There's only one person I might have felt something for, and he died ten years ago."
"What is wrong with you?!" Chris shouted, "You can't hold out for your boyfriend to come back from the dead, okay?! You've got to move on and find new people."
"Chris," Scott said, "you've got this all wrong. I'm not waiting for something that's impossible. I'm just not attracted to you, and you can't change that."
Chris stared at him for a long time, and sighed. "I'm sorry, Scott. I wanted to do this the easy way..."
"Wha-" Scott started to ask, but was suddenly cut off when a hand clamped over his mouth from behind.
