One Last Chance

Chapter 5 - Let the Show Begin

Today was the day.

The day that the new members will arrive. This day will include a meeting where the members would be seated with the rest of the audience to watch the presentation of the rulers. After they would each be assigned a kingdom to live in. That was pretty much it to the meeting. After each ruler would do as they please for the rest of the day.

I had mixed feeling about this day. I would dread this day because I would have to face my sisters again. Though I was excited because I would find my new members of my kingdom and maybe my mate.

I've been waiting three years for my mate....if I did have a mate that is. I've dreamed of the day I would meet my mate and have the most wonderful life I could ever have. Though that is just a dream...just a dream.

The meeting would start by the members waking up in some part of the rebirth forest. There would be officials from the main kingdom to collect them all. This forest is almost like a way of passing from their old life into their new life which is here. These people once had a life on Earth, but now they have died and got chosen to join this new life. When they get here though they don't come as babies or how they died. They take their physical form for when they were most happy and active. Usually they are around their later teenage years or early twenties.

After they are collected they are taken to the main kingdom where they would be seated with the rest of the audience. After everyone has been seated, this presenter will go to the front and stand behind a podium and kind of give a summary of what, where, and who they are now. After the rulers would line up outside of this auditorium and then when their name is called they would walk hand in hand with their mate or knight with two knights in the back of them. They would walk down the aisle in the middle and then they would be stand in front of everyone. After each ruler has passed up to the front they would be seated with their mates and knights behind their makeshift throne.

I have knights but two of them are substituting for Micah and Logan. They're great guys too, they respect me and I respect them, they also get how much hate I get and kind of understand my way of thinking. Omar, Lucid, and Aaron would walk with me to the front. Lucid would walk beside me and lead me through as always.

This year is the first time Dwayne will walk with us. I made him one of my knights about three months ago. In total I have around twenty knights, it might be a lot to some people but it's okay.

I lined up behind up behind Aylins' knights, then I heard Omar, Lucid, and Aaron coming towards me. I recognized their scent as I got here. Omar smells like an outdoor fire mixed with pine. Lucid smells like pine mixed with a citrus scent. Then Aaron smells like a marshmallow, I'm not kidding literally he does, it smells good for him. They said I smell like a cherry blossom mixed with brown sugar, I can't imagine that smell.

They greeted me and took their positions, Lucid grabbed my hand and held it up just as soon as the music started playing.

*Play music*

Leader by leader they walked down the aisle to their thrones. As Aylin walked I concentrated on my breathing. At last the announcer called my name and I walked forward. I felt my hands shaking. I felt my soul pulling away from my body. My throat tightened. I held my up my head. Walking gracefully as I could. Good thing I'm wearing flats instead of heels or else I would've fallen on my face already.

I could never walk in heels, like ever. I never found them comfortable either. I was more of a flats kind of person. I know I'm short. But I'm not risking my life for those things.

Everyone stared at me, their faces mixed with emotions. The new members were confused as to why this was all happening. They're probably wondering, why they weren't in heaven or hell.

I continued walking as calmly as I could. Lucid had a firm grip on me, knowing that I would flip out in front of all these people. I reached the front of all the people, then climbed up the few steps. Slowly I turned trying not to step on my dress. I looked up and I saw how many people there really was. The bottom floor was filled with new members, the second upper sections of seats sat all the people of our kingdoms. They clapped as a welcome, and I gave a small wave and smile. Lucid then guided me to my seat and we stood there as the presenter said some words about us.

"Please, once again, give a round of applause to your dearest rulers!", a roar of claps filled the room. I saw some of my people cheer for me, I smiled at them and nodded at them. They returned the smile, and I thought how lucky I am to have such awesome people as them.

The presenter nodded at us, giving the signal for us to be seated, then turning back around when he made sure we were all seated.
"You may be seated.", like a wave the audience sat down. Then listened to the drone of the presenters' voice. He gave a long freaking speech on how this world was a privilege and what not.

"Your majesty's please rise and be ready.", I started panicking as I stood up from my chair. They would see me, the real me. The me that some people are afraid of.

"Now, ladies please present.", I stood there waiting for my sisters to show their magical features. Then it came to me. I took a deep breath in, and released my wings. I could tell they were looking at me. They were judging me for my wings.

My blacked wings, their feathers darkened at the tip and ends, with the metallic gold in between. They saw evil in me. They think I am dangerous.

I looked up and claps once again filled the room. I kept my head up high, showing authority within me. Though certain pairs of eyes were trained on me. I looked down to the bottom section of the audience. Pairs of eyes were staring at me, probably at my wings.

"Now for the designation of kingdoms. May the new members please rise and stand in a single file.", right away people lined up. Some were crying, they were scared and confused. They did as they were told, too scared to get into trouble or question the authority.

The people got to choose their kingdom, they weren't forced to live somewhere they didn't want to. I liked the idea actually, I didn't want to have to deal with people who didn't want to live where I lived. Each person went up to the people in charge of assigning, they either pointed at one of us or they just told them our name. Not a lot of people choose my kingdom, they say they're scared because we mostly dress in dark colors. We aren't dangerous it's just how we want to dress. There isn't a rule or something that says you have to wear dark colored clothes, we just prefer to dress this way. Others say they don't want to join because they think that we worship the darkness. That isn't true in the slightest bit.

"Are you bored?", Lucid whispered in my ear.

"Omg, Lucid! You freaking scared me, didn't you know I was zoned out.", he chuckled at my reaction, "Sorry, darling I was just having a bit of fun.", he gave me a smirk and put his arm around my shoulders."Lucid, baby, I know that you feel desperate for my attention but don't make it so obvious.", his face was priceless!! His jaw dropped and faked getting his heart broken." You did not just say that. How rude of you. You know, I never really liked you. Hmph.", he was getting all sassy and real quick.

We looked at each other and bit our lip trying to keep in the laugh we were holding, but I couldn't take it no more. I burst out laughing and he followed soon after. This is why I love Lucid, he's a good friend, kind of like a best friend.

At last each single person had been assigned, as we came to the end of the ceremony, once again the presenter gave a speech. Then just as we entered this building, we left the same way. One by one. The music played again and Lucid guided me out of the building. We were talking outside waiting for my new people to join us, when out of no where it started raining. Everyone hurried to get inside or get into their vehicles so they wouldn't get wet, but we just stood there. We appreciated the rain, we really did, it gave a sense of relaxation.

The doors opened once again and out came the last of my people...and let me say...they were quite attractive...
