Who She Is

Bullshit.

Fucking bullshit.

The thought of being normal.

Being a real family.

But she could never seem to reach happiness.

No matter how hard she tried.

She felt lost.

Unwanted, even.

She didn't get to grow up living with both parents.

She really didn't grow up with either parent.

Her mom sent her off to live with her grandparents whilst she finished college.

Her real dad?

Never met him.

He didn't want her.

So she was stuck living with her grandma and grandpa.

They were a little on the nutty side.

They never let her go anywhere for fear of her doing things she doesn't even know.

The place was a old white trailer on a hill.

It was more on the country side of town.

They had quite a bit of land, almost like a football field.

But she wasn't happy there.

She was never free of her grandparents jurisdiction.

Sure she looked happy.

But deep down inside she was broken.

Eight years of living there only getting to see her mom in summer.

Every time she went she would come back.

One year when she was 10 she went to her moms but this time she didn't come back.

She was so happy that her mom wanted her again.

She was in fifth grade going to a school called Harrison.

The kids there weren't too nice.

They picked on her because she wore the same clothes over.

They didn't know that she had left all of her clothes at her grandparents.

Her mom wouldn't let her take them because her grandparents was filthy.

So she only had a couple of clothes.

She was bullied because of it.

She got called dirty, nasty, homeless.

It hurt her but she never showed it.

Fear of weakness.

She felt that she couldn't let people in or else they would leave her.

Like how her mother did.

So she grew strong and learned to shut the world out to protect her.

Living with her mother wasn't going so well.

Her mom always made her clean.
Sometimes when she didn't clean properly, or even clean at all, her mom would hit her.

But not just regular hits that you discipline your kids with.

She would beat her.

Leave bruises and scratches.

One day, it got really bad.

She was hitting her continuously, beating her own daughter.

The neighbors in the apartment below them heard yelling and screaming.

So she called DCFS.

They sent someone over to see what was going on.

Before they got there her sisters dad came.

When DCFS came they asked questions about what happened.

The mom said nothing.

The girl and her siblings however, told them everything.

After they all talked DCFS was telling the dad that their mom was unstable and could not live with the kids.

The dad said that he would take them, and he did.

That night all three kids packed their things and left.

Leaving the youngest one with their mom.

He was only a couple months old, so he stayed with her.

The kids cried.

She couldn't believe that their mom beat her like that.

Sure she hit them hear and their but never beat them like how she did that day.

'It's finally all over', she thought, but little did she know that this was only the beginning.
