LEXA
I am back in Reno. Yesterday was Taylor's and Anne's wedding and I couldn't be happier for them. It's been about 3 years since I've been back. Lane is almost 3 and she's the most adorable thing in the world. I am holding her on my hip when I walk into a coffee shop by my old college. "Hi, how can I help you" a young girl asks me. She must be a freshman. "Hi, can I get a child temp hot chocolate and an Americano please" I tell the nice girl my order. I hang her the cash and tell her my name. I sit Lane down and I grab a booster seat for her chair.
HARRY
My medical school is dragging on. I can't wait to graduate. It's snowing outside. On days like this I wonder what Curly is doing. I hope she still has our daughter. I don't know why she left that day and why I can't see my own daughter. That day I told my mum about her and I was going to step up to the plate and ask her if she wanted to move to England with me. When I got back she wasn't there. I wonder what my daughter looks like.
I see a little girl alone in a coffee shop and I wonder where he mother is. She's probably getting coffee. I walk in and look at the little girls features. She has curly dark brown hair and these long eyelashes that frame her bright green eyes. He smile is framed by dimples. That's how my daughter would have looked like. I see a lady with long blonde hair covered with a beanie. She was wearing chunky glasses and I could tell she was fit. As a stare more at her I realize it is Lexa
I walk up to the table. "Hi." I say. Lexa turns her head towards me and her eyes widen in shock. "Hi, i-i-i-it's nice to-o-o-o see you-u-u ag-g-ain." she stutters. "Mama, who dis." my little girl speak out. I really hope she says i'm her dad but i'm not sure what Lexa will say. "He's mommy's old special friend." she tells her. "Why special" she questions. "He is very nice that's why." she tells her intrusive daughter. "You said dadda was special." my smart girl says. My heart warms up to the thought of Curly talking about me to her. "I'm Harry. What's your name cutie pie." I ask "My name is Lane." she informs me. What a cute name. I pull up a chair to their table. "Lexa, can we spend the day together? I would really like to talk and get to know Lane." Lane smiles and Lexa looks a little concerned. "Pweaze mama Harwy seems nice." Lane tells her mother. "Yes, Harry you can spend today with us. We were going to the park and then back to our hotel." she informs me.
The walk to the park is a short one. Lexa and I were holding each one of Lane's hands and swinging her in the air. It feels amazing to hold my daughters hand. I have missed so much of her life. I wanted to be there when she was born. All that matters now is that I am her and I get to see her. Lane runs off when she sees the park. She's only 3 but she is smart.
"Lexa, why did you leave me?" I say choking on my words. She looks at me like she was about to cry. "You took my daughter away from me. I wanted to be there and see her." now crying. I am sobbing now. I can't control my sadness any longer. "I wanted you to be free. I wanted you to be successful and find a nice girl and start a family when you were ready. I was a one night stand that went wrong. I didn't want to trap you." she said also crying. Why did she do that? I wanted my daughter. "You wouldn't trap me. We made her together. She is half of me. Why wouldn't I want her?" I question still crying. "Michael said I trapped you. I wouldn't want you to be mad if there was something that I gave to our daughter. She's perfect but I didn't know she was going to be. I heard your mom yelling at you on the phone that day." she choked out. Fucking Michael of course he said something to her. That's why she was crying that night. I bet he told her our daughter would hate her. "I told my mother. She was very upset but she was proud of me for wanting to take care of you both." I finally admit. "What do you mean?" she questions me.
"I was planning on taking you to England with me. I wanted to introduce you to my mum and she wanted us to live with her until we got our feet on the ground." I say. "Then why did you say you would take it back if you could?" I remember saying that but I'm pretty sure Lexa heard it of of context. "I would take back dating Meghan. I told my mum everything and I told her that I hurt you and that's what I would take back not being with you." I hope she finally understands. Suddenly she hugged me and started weeping into my chest. I hug back and stroke her hair with my left hand. She smells so sweet. I missed how she smelled. We probably looked like crazy people crying in a park.
"Mama! What's wrong mama? Why are you and Hawry crying?" Lane runs up and asks. "Come here baby." Lexa picks up Lane and sits down on a bench. I slide in next to her. I wonder what Lexa is gonna say. "Well, baby girl. Harry is your daddy and he loves you very much." I was shocked by her words. "I know." Lane said.
