"My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard...damn right its better than yours--"
I sang and danced as i stepped out of the shower, with a towel around me facing the mirror, brushing my long blonde hair which I was in love with and couldn't possibly ever cut and as a result reached my waist, and i used the brush as I kept on singing as a mic a couple of times.
I just began to dress up when i heard my dad shout
"JENNIFER SAWYER DOBSON!!!!"
Uh oh....
"Reduce the volume of that music or i'm seizing all your speakers!" I stuck my head out of my room and shouted
"Sorry dad!"
"No problem honey and hurry up I dont want us to be late...dont forget dress formally! No trousers, no sneakers."
I shrugged and reduced the volume as I rummaged through my unpacked boxes for what to wear.
We moved to Manhattan from Queens last week and I still haven't unpacked. It still seems unreal you know, living in manhattan, I've lived in Queens my whole life.
I never even travelled.
I lived with my dad and grandma and i never knew my mum. It doesn't really bother me anymore...not knowing who she is, i guess if she wanted to be in my life she would.
My grandma was my best friend...is my best friend but about a year ago she became deaf, she used to be a doctor but she quit after she lost her hearing, my dad made a fortune selling a book he wrote to some rich guy and now we're rich, so we moved here, which really was perfect timing because i got into some things in my old school I dont really think i can face without completely breaking down again and i can start new here, and be myself.
My dad said he just wanted the very best for me and i guess its in manhattan.I mean we were never poor we were just about comfortable.
My dad is becoming a criminal consultant to the police and he starts next week he's so excited to work at a new place, he's worked at the same place in Queens since i was born, he was an officer but always wanted to be a consultant.
So i guess you can say his dreams came true.
Gosh i cant find my tights or blue flats...i really need to unpack.
"Jennifer! Vanessa's here we've got to go!" Dad shouted as i heard him leave the house.
Oh vanessa...the person who stays with my grandma when I and dad weren't around...kinda like a babysitter, she's pretty awesome although shes a college drop out and all.
I grabbed my black flats, my phone and my head phones and ran down the stairs hoping on one foot wearing my shoes on each foot and when i got down stairs, i pecked my grandma on the cheek saying good morning.
"Hi vanessa, bye vanessa."
I said as i brushed past her in a hurry to catch up with dad and I heard her laughing from a distance...she's so gonna pay for that.
I left the house and ran down the stairs to meet dad who was parked in front of our building and blowing his horn like he was a little kid and was amazed by the sound it made and i jumped in the car letting out an exhausted sigh, tired from all the running and my hair was almost in a mess and dad chuckled as we drove off.
