For once, everything feels perfect.
Everything feels safe, everyone's is on the good side instead of evil. Right after I gave that speech to the town, I ran and cried. We had lost so many people. But why Byron? It's amazing that he sacrificed himself for us. But I never wanted him to go. But he did what he did, and no one could ever change that.
"Wist? Are you okay?"
I hear my brother's voice from the other side of my apartment door.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I say, wiping away one of my tears. I'm curled up in a pathetic little ball on the living room couch.
"Can I come in?" Whit asks.
"Sure."
I get up off my couch, walking to the door and swinging it open. As soon as I see my brother, he wraps his arms around me.
"I'm so sorry, sis. I wish I could help you. Swain was a good ferret," Whit jokes, trying to cheer me up. As he pulls back from me, I manage a weak smile.
"Yeah, he was. But I need to stop sulking. We have stuff to do," I explain. Today, we have to clean the town up. Make it easier to live in.
"You're right. Let's go."
And with that, Whit and I set off to cleaning.
